gally's pov.
I watched as the runners returned from the west side doors as normal. except this time, only three remained. thomas, minho and y/n all returned without harry. the empty loop of the ivy following behind y/n confirmed it.
but to my surprise, not one of them looked to have any sadness on their faces. it looked as if they were smiling.
the three approached me and newt by the map room, greeted us breifly before rushing inside. newt and I observed as they collected some grease proof paper from the kitchen and began to trace their mappings.
"hey, take a look at this." thomas grins, turning the paper around to show a written word. "float."
the group continued before they had accumulated six words, set out on the table before them.
"float, catch, bleed, death, stiff, push? what the shush does that mean?" I question, hoping for their sake this wasn't some stupid prank.
"we think it could be some type of code." minho replies, not taking his eyes off of the many piles of paper on the table.
"we found an invisible hole, just feet down from the edge of the cliff. that must be our way out." y/n continues, joining minho, shuffling all the paper on the table.
"we leave in two days, this is our only hope." newt stated, "tell everyone to pack up."
"no." I protest, all eyes landing on me. "we can't leave, this is home."
they day then past quickly, I barely got any sleep due to worrying about what's to come. but the next morning I woke up to a surprise. the sun had gone. the sky was solid grey, no blue in sight. it was colder than normal, it was never cold in the glade, so why now?
I locked myself in my room of the homestead the rest of the day. they were ruining everything. we were fine here before thomas showed up, followed by y/n and to top it off teresa. all in less than a month. it was unusual and I didn't like it.
all day I hand seen anyone, not leaving my bed. that was until the nightmares began.
shrieks echoed throughput the glade causing me to go and take a look what all the fuss was about. but horror was all I found. the grievers were in the glade. red grass stained with blood. tears filled my eyes.
it was their fault this was happening. all their fault.
some graders ran for their life. some fought for their life, but few seemed to have given up. their bodies finally giving in and falling to the ground. accepting their fate.
I stood there in shock, not knowing what to do with myself.
that was until I saw minho and y/n aproaching me on hands and knees. to which I crouched and did the same. in that moment my mind was blank, no thoughts. causing me to miss the claw extending towards me and gripping me by the waist.
"gally!" minho screamed as I was yanked from the homestead and taken away by the flesh covered, robotic monsters.
"good luck." I whispered as my last words to the pair before being dragged towards death itself.
minho's pov.
it was early morning I had woken up. the doors not waking me up with the dreaded noise of stone grinding against stone.
attempting to make I felt a weight on my left shoulder to see y/n's head resting on it, peacefully asleep. before the events of last night I would of happily shoved her off me, ending in one of our many bickers but I decided against it there and then.
"y/n." I whispered softly, "come on now."
she humed in reply, "we need to pack up and go." she shot up suddenly, most likely remembering our living situation.
"let's go."
