I woke up next to Nico, my arm around him. I probably should have panicked that I had never gone back to my cabin. But I really didn't care.
Nico seemed to realize I woke up and rolled over. " Hi." Nico Said.
I smiled at him. " Hey Sunshine."
" Don't call me that." Nico said. But I don't think it came out with as much venom as he meant to put in it.
We laid for a while before getting up. Nico checked my watch.
" Shcist! I've got to help Jason train some new kids!"
" Nico," I said. " Your a little late to everything it'll be fine."
Nico seemed to mildly relax at this but he still rushed a bit as he put his short and shoes on.
- Nico-
I managed to be only about ten minutes late for the training.
" Nico!" Jason called as I ran over.
He turned back to the group of kids. " We've been giving you instructions for a couple of weeks. Today's lesson will basically consist of me and Nico fighting and then next class you guys can go at it."
Me and Jason started. I partied and slashed, ducking and weaving around him. I was pretty good. Maybe not quite as Jason, yet, but I could hold my own against him.
We finally ended and Percy came up. " Hey Jason you want to go!" He called.
Jason grinned. " Sure man."
Percy and Jason started. Percy pulling Riptide out and uncapping it.
They went at it, no powers allowed. They went for a while before Percy disarmed Jason And was crowned victor.
I realized Piper and Annabeth had come over to watch about the same time that Percy and Kason did.
" Hey Annabeth!" Percy called grinning.
Annabeth smiled at the son of Poseidon and it looked like she was truly happy. Fully happy, only when Percy was around.
Of course, she didn't need Percy to be happy, she was strong either way. But She and Percy loved each other, and we're always stronger when they were together.
I thought about Will. He made me happy.
Piper ran over to Jason. " You did great! I really thought you were going to win for a minute there!"
Annabeth smiled. " Percy you were amazing. I remember watching Luke teach you that last move."
I thought that Luke's name would bring up some bad memories and things would get odd, but Percy just smiled. " I remember too." He said. " I also remember you using it on me once." Percy's eyes danced and Annabeth laughed.
Piper broke in " Jason that move you pulled towards the end almost worked I could tell!"
I looked over at Piper. She sounded like,
Yep.
She thought Jason was better, and she wanted everyone else to think so too.
Actually, I remembered this happening before. It was always right after Aphrodite came to pay a visit to Piper.
Annabeth, though, didn't seem to remember.
She turned to Percy. " It's so great that you won! Especially since Jason has been training all year every year since he was taken when he was like three and you've only been learning every summer since you were twelve!"
Percy and Jason shared a look. They seemed to get what was going on.
" Hey Annabeth." Percy said. " I want to go for a swim in the lake, you want to come?"
" Yeah, sure Percy." Annabeth said before they walked off.
Piper looked guiltily at Jason. I really didn't need to be around for this. I went in search of some food.
So, you guys may not like how Piper was acting. ( Neither do I.) But she got really insecure when her mom came and talked to her because her mom feels the need for all her children to be the best because she considers herself to be the best.
I don't think Piper will act like that again but I needed it to happen just this once but I need it to happen because I wanted to bring up the differences in Percy and Jason's training.
Also I think Annabeth most likely would have gotten it but she's also under tons of stress, ( rebuilding Olympus) there's only so much a person can take and she just couldn't deal with Piper right then.
