"You left witnesses?" Mathias howled. Slick winced; he should have been more prepared for Mathias's wrath. He was pacing the floor, and his hands were clenched. Slick stood against the wall as far away from Mathias as he could. If could have melted into the wall he would have.

"She's the only one. She had a key to the place, and she snuck in after closing. We checked the entire place before we went in. There was no one there but Dino."

"Why didn't you kill her?" Mathias sighed and snatched the envelope full of money out of Slick's hand. In a way, Slick understood Mathias's anger. He would be livid if someone was careless, and left witnesses. The only issue was this wasn't his fault, but in this business, there is absolutely no room for error.

"Well, before I left you told me not to end anyone, remember?" Slick was growing more annoyed. Mathias should have understood that Slick would never purposely put him in danger.

"I meant her boss. I don't care about her." Mathias sighed and opened the envelope. He flipped through the hundred dollar bills and then smiled. "You know this gives me a good idea," he held his smirk, and Slick scrunched his eyebrows. "You can babysit her. I don't want her out of your sight just long enough that I can make sure that she won't open her mouth. The last thing I need is her telling someone that I run my business on sixth street."

"I can't just babysit this fucking girl! I have shit to do." Slick howled.

"Maybe it'll teach you responsibility. They used to do that with that fake baby doll in high school remember?"

Yeah, in 1967

"This isn't fucking high schoo-"

"End of discussion." Mathias interrupted and grabbed his coat. He kept that mischievous smirk on his face, which only made Slick angrier by the second.

"This is not the end of the fucking discussion."

"It is if you want to be the leader after I step down."

Slick took a deep breath trying to calm his anger. Mathias always won, and he should have determined by now. "Fine." Slick grumbled. "How long do I have to babysit her for?"

"We'll say a month. It'll give me enough time to see if she's worth my trust."

"A month!" Slick groaned. "You do realize that I have six collections to do this week, and I have fifty pounds of coke headed towards New York. I have to meet the distributor tomorrow. I can't do all that with her there. What if something goes wrong?"

"That's your problem not mine, Jesse. Figure it out." Slick could sense the conversation was over. "Call me tomorrow and let me know how everything is going."

Mathias tossed Slick a quick smile and closed the door. Slick stood in his office for a few moments just enjoying the silence. This girl was already causing problems. If Slick had known the outcome of tonight, he would have just killed her earlier. He had no time to babysit this bitch, and he already knew she had a smart mouth. He was already on edge he didn't need her to make it worse.

Crow found her ID after he knocked her out. Slick now knew her name, age, and address. It wouldn't take long to run a background check on her. He'd have the report back in a couple of hours. He needed to make sure that no one in her family would come looking for her, but if they did, he would just kill them.
