The ride back to the club was completely silent. The tension was rising, and finally Slick turned the radio on to drown out the awkwardness. It seemed to work. That kiss shouldn't have happened. It won't happen again, Slick thought. It was entirely innocent and didn't go far, thank god. Yet, Slick still enjoyed it. Her lips were soft and warm, and he loved the feeling of her small frame wrapped in his arms. It was different than what he was accustomed to. He was used to rough lips, biting, and no strings. This held passion- emotions, he didn't like that. Well, maybe he did. How did everything get this confusing?

Slick parked the truck, and unlocked the doors. Kylie hurried out of the door, and quickly walked back into the club. She was angry, Slick cringed. He did kiss her and then ignore her. He followed behind her and made sure that she went back to her room. He tried to stay out of sight, but she knew he was there. The slamming of the bedroom door made that clear.

"'What was that about?" Blaze asked, holding a packet of papers.

"I'm a fucking idiot that's what," Slick said and sat down in the living room. He could feel the pressure mounting and he needed some time to himself. He knew he wasn't going to get it tonight though. Random people were scurrying through the house. Slick ignored them and stared at the fireplace. The heat brushing against his cheeks.

"Well, we knew that," Blaze said, and sat down across from him.

"I kissed her," Slick said after a moment of silence.

"Why'd you do that?"

Blaze didn't appear to be shocked. Which confused and slightly annoyed Slick.

"I didn't mean for it to happen. It just did- spur of the moment type thing."

"What are you gonna do? What are you gonna tell Mathias?"

"Nothing and nothing. I'm not telling him shit. He'll cut my head off. He already thinks I can't keep my dick in my pants."

Blaze smirked and nodded. "You should still talk to her and at least explain yourself. I'm not sure if you noticed, but she seems a little angry and you do have to work with her."

"Not right now," Slick said matter-of-factly. He didn't want to continue that conversation. He would talk to Kylie, but not tonight. He needed to clear his head.

"Did you find anything today at that house?"

"Sort of. Found this address," Blaze said, and dig a small piece of paper out of his pants pocket and handed it to Blaze.

"This is on Carlile's territory," Blaze said, obviously confused.

"Yeah, that's the issue."

"Give me a day. I'll make some calls and see if I can get someone from the south side to check it out."

"Thanks man," Slick said.

Getting someone from the South Side to do his dirty work should be easy. Josh still owed Mathias's crew for last year. If need be they'd be calling in on that favor soon. Slick was growing more frustrated. He kept hitting dead ends. Why was she so important? That bothered him more than anything. She had to be entwined with someone important. Otherwise why else would they go to these lengths to help keep her a secret?

Slick couldn't even tell Mathias about what was found tonight. He was already on the east side. Mathias wanted everything to be perfect for Friday. Nothing could go wrong. Always expect the unexpected with Carlile. He was a snake who would do anything to have the upper hand- including biting the hand that feeds him.

I'm sooooo sorry this is so short and I'm so sorry it's so late. I had a terrible couple months. I had a seizure a few months ago which knocked me into a terrible depression and I didn't feel like writing at all. I still don't, but I'm pushing myself. 2019 has been the worst year. I'm hoping next year I'll do better. I just wanted to get this out cause it's been so long. Its not edited either.
