The sounds of yelling had woken Kylie up. The walls were incredibly thin for how much money was put into this place. Her head was pounding and her throat was raw from screaming. She couldn't recall falling asleep. She didn't plan to at all. One part because she was sharing this room with her captor and the other part because she didn't trust anyone. Speaking of Slick he didn't come back in last night.
The screaming match in the next room continued and Kylie groaned. She knew at this point there was no way out and she wanted to cry.
The entire day had been a mess. Slick had gotten his hands on a few of the workers at the boatyard. He believed in being fair and wanted to make sure that he knew exactly who was stealing from him. They all ratted relatively quickly. Most of the people who work for him weren't apart of the crew. They had families to feed and houses to pay a mortgage on. Most didn't even know what was in the packages that they were helping deliver.
Slick was anxious to get the day over with. He knew that he was most likely going to kill someone today. Taking someone's life wasn't something he took lightly. It was also something that he loathed. He hated being the executioner. Hopefully, this would be last time he had to be the one to pull the trigger.
Before he knew it he was at Kylie's bedroom- his bedroom. He fished the key out of his pocket and entered the room. Kylie sat on the bed and stared at him.
"Let's go," Slick said, and put on his jacket.
"Where are we going?" She asked. Slick rubbed his hands over his face knowing she was going to make today difficult.
"Don't ask questions just come on." Slick opened the door and gestured for her to follow him.
Kylie had no idea what was going on. Deep down she wanted to argue and fight him, but for some reason, she didn't. She stared at him longer than she wanted to. He looked completely exhausted. He had bags under his eyes and was wearing the same jeans as yesterday.
Had he been up all night? She thought. He closed the door behind her and nodded towards the stairs. This place was still as confusing as it was last night. Even if she did manage to escape she would have never found her way out. The hallways seemed to grow longer and the rooms seemed to grow bigger. Men dressed like they just left a funeral were guarding every exit.
Finally, they made it down to the strip club. The club was darker than it was last night when Blaze dragged her in. It was too early to open yet some of the crew were already here drinking. Slick wanted to yell at them but it wasn't his place yet. He made a mental note of every single one partying instead of working. When he came to be the leader he'd make sure they were gone.
Drunk men have loose lips, he heard his father repeat that phrase a few times. His father had good one-liners- he just never followed his own advice. Slick shook his head and spotted Blaze. He didn't need outside thoughts of his family clouding his head.
He glanced at Kylie who was following him like a lap dog.
"Stay here," Slick said. "And don't try anything stupid." She rolled her eyes and turned away from him. Slick wanted to laugh but he didn't. As much as he didn't want to admit it he was curious about this girl. He had a gut feeling about her, and he wasn't sure if that feeling was good or bad.
Slick locked eyes with Blaze and met him halfway across the room.
Blaze held a nervous expression which immediately put Slick on the defense.
"I have bad news, boss," Blaze muttered.
"Now what?" Slick snapped. "Like my day couldn't get any fucking worse."
