Kylie slowly opened her eyes and glanced around the room.
I did not fall asleep here, she thought.
The last she remembered she was in the back of the truck. She hurried out of bed and tried for the doorknob again. Like she suspected it was locked. She glanced up at the camera and flipped it off. She hoped Slick was watching. She didn't want any of his henchmen's hands on her.
Maybe if she could gain Slick's trust enough, he would allow her to wander the house a little more. That would give her more than enough time to figure out a plan.
Kylie began thinking of her mom, and tears brimmed her eyes. Her mom was probably worried, sick. Kylie visited her mom every single day. Even more, now that her health had taken a severe decline. Her mom was bedridden and too weak to do pretty much anything. She needed to find an escape.
The door creaked open slowly, and Slick stuck his head inside. He was hoping she was still sleeping.
"When are you guys gonna let me go?" Kylie snapped.
"I don't know. That's up to Mathias." Slick closed the door and walked to his closet. He could sense a headache coming on. He was still wearing the same clothes as yesterday. He wanted to get a shower, but he didn't have enough time. He had to go back to the port and find a new distributor.
Kylie watched him pull his shirt off and stared at his back. He was undeniably attractive. The thought upset her. How could she be attracted to her captor?
A large tattoo covered his back, but he pulled his shirt on too quickly. She couldn't decipher it.
"Who's Mathias? And why isn't it up to you? Aren't you the leader?" She spat out finally.
"My boss, and no, I'm not the leader yet." He said through gritted teeth.
"Please tell your boss that I need to go home."
"I'm sorry about this. I didn't want you here, believe me. He's doing this as a lesson to me. I'm sure you won't be here much longer." Slick said and sat at the edge of the bed.
"But what if I am? My mom depends on me."
"With what?"
"She has cancer, and she's in eastern rehabilitation center. I have to pay them three hundred every month, or they'll kick her out. I can't take care of her; I work too much." Kylie's face was sunken in with sorrow. Her worry for her mother was evident. Tears brimmed her eyes, and Slick turned away.
He wanted to comfort her. He hated seeing girls cry.
"I'll talk to Mathias," he whispered. "But I can't promise anything."
"Thank you." She muttered and wiped the tears away.
"I am sorry that you're stuck here. This wasn't my idea."
"Can I at least be allowed out of this room? It's driving me crazy being in here."
"Yeah, but Blaze is going to be with you at all times."
"Blaze? Isn't that the guy I hit?"
"Yeah, it is. He's a decent guy," Slick smirked. "Just don't hit him again."
Kylie and Blaze ate breakfast together quickly. He was clearly angry that he had to babysit her. Blaze always held a dark expression, but it was even more prominent now. Her plan to escape was coming together nicely. She just needed to figure out the layout of the house better. When he looked behind she grabbed a knife and slid it into her pants. It made it uncomfortable to sit, but she held her together well. Blaze didn't even notice.
