A meeting was set up fairly quickly with Carlile. Mathias made sure of that. The meeting was going to be on neutral ground. Which meant it was going to be completely out of the city. The city causes too much interference and they wanted this done as quickly as possible.

Hopefully Carlile and Mathias could make peace. If not then it would be an all out war. Slick wasn't ready for another war. It had been a year, but it seemed like just yesterday he was teaming up with Josh to take down Matteo. Was that what being a leader is like? Constantly fighting for the top of the food chain? He knew if need be that Josh would join Mathias's side. He just didn't want anymore bloodshed right now.

Slick wasn't as rough as he pretended to be. He didn't want to lose anymore men, and that's where his loyalty always laid. It also seemed like old memories were surfacing. Memories he had pushed down and forget about; ones he didn't want to relive again. He could see his father standing above him and he could hear his father's screaming voice. Empty beer bottles laid across the floor, and blood staining the carpet. Slick remembered that night; he tried to forget and for a long time he thought he did. His father would frequently hit him, but no where near as severe as that night. He broke Slick's nose and Slick had to reset it himself. His father ended up passing out drunk on the couch with a bottle of vodka in his hand. Little did he know that was his last night alive. That was the night Slick killed his own father.

Slick shook the memory from his head. He didn't have time for reminiscing with his pain. He had a job to do.

Kylie wanted to fling her food at Blaze. He wouldn't quit staring and laughing at her. The cook brought out two plates of what she assumed was some sort of steak and for a picky eater she was having a hard time getting it down. She already picked off all of the mushrooms and the spinach.

Blaze laughed at her again, and watched her scrape off all the gravy.

"I'm ready to hit you again," she said and showed him her fist.

"My mom would have smacked me if she seen me picking food off my plate like that," he laughed again.

"My mom would have too, honestly. I'm too much of a picky eater for this fancy shit."

"It took me awhile to get used to it."

"I don't think I ever will."

"You'll get used to it here. But, you won't be here forever."

For two people who started off as enemies they were getting along quite nicely. Maybe even on their way to become friends.

"How can I just trust that Mathias is going to take care of my mom? I don't even know him," she said and threw her knife down.

"I do, and believe me he won't go back on his word," Blaze said, and looked over her shoulder.

Slick came into focus and he waved for Blaze to come to him, "Blaze I need to talk to you."

Blaze nodded towards Kylie and followed Slick towards the pool. They could still keep a good eye on her yet they were far enough away so she wouldn't hear.

Slick needed Blaze to go secure the location for the meeting. Normally Mathias would have wanted Slick to do such a job, but Slick had other priorities at the moment.

"Mind if I sit?" He asked, and Kylie jumped. He refrained from chuckling.

"It's your house right? You can do what you want," she snapped. She wasn't sure why she was getting so shitty with him. It wasn't completely his fault.

"I am sorry about this," he said and sat down in the seat Blaze was in. "I don't want any hostility between us. We do have to live together."

She stared at him for a moment, and sighed, "I just don't understand how someone could erase everything. It's like I don't exist."
