Mondays were always blur in my head. The feeling of getting back to work after a weekend was exhausting. My muscles felt weak like my energy in bed. I groggily rolled of bed with my eyes half opened.
I made a point to have a balanced meal for breakfast. Warm toasted waffles drenched with maple syrup sits on my plate. Instead of coffee, I steeped myself a steaming cup of green tea.
I jumped to my car driving to work when I received a call from Cathy. It would be embarrassing if a special agent got caught by a police officer for using her phone while driving. I didn't take the chances so I placed it on loudspeaker.
''Cathy, I'm driving right now''
''Which is exactly why I called you. Did you get the email?'' Cathy asked
''What email?''
''Classic Dahlia'' she sighed ''All recruits to the base now. Orders from Bailey''
''I'm on my way''
''Sorry to all for canceling your training'' Bailey said as he stood in front of us.
He didn't need to apologize. All of us hate training and would rather go on a nuclear mission.
'' I have just been informed by a trusted source that Kenneth Fabian is on the run''
Murmurs were spreading among the crowd
''We need you to capture Kenneth once and for all so he doesn't give us any more trouble again. He was last seen at Ivin street and that is where you'll be heading to today''
The Ivin district was a deserted area. Perfect for an assassin to plot his murder. There were still some shops that are still running their business but I doubt they would make any profit. Every sound I make, maybe a pebble scraping underneath my shoe or the wind pressing against the panes of the windows was amplified by the silence. The building's windows in this are looked like hollow sockets, empty and black, long gone and abandoned.
''Keep an eye out for any signs of Kenneth'' Asher called out to the recruits.
At that moment, I heard a shift in the wind and light footsteps. I turned around figured out who was it but everyone was standing still with their guns in their hand
''Dahlia above you! '' Ally screamed
I tilt my head up only to find a man jumping off from the window holding a sharp blade. Before I could even point my gun at him, he landed on my back making me fall on the ground face flat.
Shots were firing at him but that didn't stop him from running away, turning into a corner. Asher helped me up while the others chased after him.
''Let's hope you didn't break any bones'' He said with a chuckled.
''Even if I didn't break a bones, my back is killing me'' I grunted out, holding my waist
''Let's get you in the van'' He held me up
''No wait we need to check out this building''
The stairs led up to a room at the corner of the loft. The door was unlocked and it kept swaying back and forth making my skin crawl. If only I knew what was waiting for me inside.
Papers. Hundreds and hundreds of papers stacked in a corner and were scattered all over the floor. I kneel down ignoring the piercing pain in my hip and went through the papers.
''There are some photographs too'' Asher stated looking at them on the dashboard.
''These are blueprints but they are in some other language'' I scanned through the papers ''All of them are written in some unknown language. I picked up a printed paper which showed an outline of a building.
