I'm late. My eyes dart around finding the alarm clock. While dressing up I try to remember my schedule on Mondays. Then I realize that I was kicked out from the case and I have nothing but paperwork and assignments to complete. But I have other important things to figure out.
I made myself a cup of coffee and get straight to my office in the bureau. I made sure to file my documents from yesterday and place it in my bag. Once I reached there, I casually walked in, trying not to be suspicious.
''Good Morning Miss'' A clerk greeted me
''Morning'' I wished back
I pulled out my keys and opened my room. It's been long since I sat here and did some work. I threw myself on the chair and popped up my laptop. I started to go through the original copy first and then pulled out my files
I stood up and locked the door to avoid anyone from barging in. I leaned back on my chair preparing myself to read the documents.
My face turned a deadly white as my blood ran cold. I froze and the skin on the back of my neck prickled with fear. Kenneth has been planning to kill me.
These blueprints are just plotting my death. He somehow had obtained all personal details about me. From my birth certificate to my car number, it's all in there! No one noticed this information in the crime scenes because it was in Finnish.
My hand reached my head, holding it for support. I can't believe what I'm reading. Why would try to kill me? I don't even know him. My heart started to beat faster. The more I read it, the more scared I became.
I jumped out from my skin when I heard a knock on the door. I quickly placed the paper in between my laptop and slammed the screen
I walked up to the door and I met with a pair of warm brown eyes. Asher
''Asher? What are you doing here and how did you know I'm here?'' I tried keeping my voice steady
''We just came back from the crime scene and I saw your car upfront'' He placed in hand in his pockets ''Are you okay? Your eyes are red and your voice is shaking.'' He narrows his eyes at me
''I'm completely fine. Did you guys find anything?'' I babbled out
''You would not believe this but all the paper and documents are missing'' He lowered his voice
''Oh my god. How is that even possible?'' I widen my eyes trying my best to act surprised
''Yeah, we think someone working with Kenneth would have stolen it. The forensic are trying to find any fingerprints.''
My eyes widen and I could feel a lump in my throat. He is going to freak out if he finds out that I stole the documents. I will have to place the documents back where I found it before anyone figures it out
''This is off topic but I was wondering maybe we should go out for brunch. There is a diner nearby that serves a variety of savory brunches''
''That's sound delicious'' I replied after I regain my nerves
The diner was only a block away so we decided to walk there. I made a foolish decision to wear my high-heeled sling bag shoes today and my feet were killing me by the time we entered the diner.
The diner was packed. Warm ambiences filled the diner with waiters rushing from one table to another. I looked around at the busy tables. An old couple eating side by side, studiously bent over their meals. A group of young women in their thirties collapsing with giggles and laughter. A few American tourists, trying to decipher the menu. The noise level was high but it didn't bother me. I was used to it all. As we sat down, a waitress came up to us.'
