6. 'Tylenol' ?

The week passed incredibly slowly. Isn't it strange how that happens? When you want the weekend to arrive it just constantly seems too far away.

I was kept busy with the amount of homework I got from school, and the amount that Tom was going on about his party.

"Got the parents to go away," he told us on thursday, taking our usual seats at the back of the cafeteria. Tom was an only child, so his parents were the only ones he needed to get out of the way.

"I bet they're more glad than you," Jay noted "If I was your dad-"

"Who would marry you so you could have a kid?" Tom shrugged him off.

"Anyway," Tom asserted himself

"I hope that you're all getting me good presents."

"What's that?" Asked Matt "Since when have you ever got me a present?"

"I brought Vodka to your house."

"Which you then drank."

"Still brought it though. It's not my fault you're a pussy."

"No I'm not."

"So where were you when we were at Danny's party? Oh that's right, with your slut of a girlfriend."

"She isn't a fucking slut Tom. She isn't like you."

"Like me?" Tom feigned surprise, and appealed to me.

"You are kind of a dickhead when it comes to stuff like that," I noted, barely looking up from my lunch.

"Anyway," Tom turned his attention back to Matt "you don't do anything with her."

"How do you mean?"

"Well you don't get in with her. She's hot dude, she should be yours every night."

"We aren't like that," Matt growled "like I said, not like you."

"Okay, calm it Romeo."

Tom left it at that; he didn't want to fall out with Matt just before his party. Someone he knew in his street was getting 'shitloads of alcohol' for him, and apparently he'd invited half the school.

"I invited Megan," he turned to me "but she said she couldn't go." I didn't know why that was, but to be honest I didn't really care; we weren't going out or anything yet, and it might be best if she didn't go to Tom's party.

The weekend was going to be good; Tom's party, then going out with Megan, and then my first band practice with Black Poison on Monday. I instantly reminded myself of the previous Friday, when I had as good a feeling about that weekend too. Look how that one turned out; stinking of sick and lying in bed. I hoped for better this time.

Surprisingly Friday seemed pass quite quickly. Apart from Math. But when did that ever fly by? I sat next to Anna, so it was alright to spend an hour in. Not a complete drag.

Tom didn't live far from where I lived, so I could walk. Besides, it would look a bit weird being driven by him to his own party. There was only Matt who lived in a different part of town, whereas Jay, Tom and I lived in the other. Jay wandered over to my house before I set off, so we could walk together.

"Hey Lily," he noted my sister as I let him in the house.

"Hi Jay," she beamed at him. Jay looked too smug.

"How's Juliette?" I asked, and the smile disappeared from his face.

"We're ok," he mumbled. Jay and Juliette had been having a few arguments lately, and looked as though they were going to break up - especially when Jay started chatting two other girls up at Danny's party. But now they were ok, and Juliette was even going to Tom's party.
