Chapter one

Maya's POV:

The wind blows my blond hair around my face, it's distracting the sun is beating down in my eyes and the water is completely still. It's a bad day to try and surf. I'm just not feeling it.

"Just feel the waves Maya! Then maybe you'll save yourself from getting eaten by a shark!" Emit yells to me from the shore.

I look back at him, his coal black hair and tanned skin make him look Hawaiian, but when you see him up close his green eyes make it clear that he is not.

"Shut up Emit! There are no waves to feel!" I yell

Emit is my all time best guy friend, he is the one that taught me to surf, he's like a brother to me. He helped me get through my parents divorce. Him and my other best friend Karman, who is sitting in a lawn chair under an umbrella. Reading a magazine.

"You have to practice! If you don't you'll never be able to out do Rose at surfing!" Emit yells, knowing it will get under my skin, because I hate Rose!

"Emit!" Karman exclaims looking up from her magazine. "Don't bring Rose into this you know how much Maya hates her!" Karman's red curls tumble at her shoulders and her green bathing suit makes her green eyes stand out.

"Rose doesn't surf! You know that!" I yell to them. "I surf because of Bryce! Yes I like Bryce! You would think he would be like the star football player that the girls fall for but he's not he's gorgeous but he doesn't know it, and he keeps to himself. He's a surfer, that's why I started surfing.

"You have a boyfriend Maya!" Emit exclaims

This is true, I do have a boyfriend but he's more like a cover really, he is the cocky jock, that all the girls want and his name is Vance. He and Bryce are completely opposite. Even in looks! Don't get me wrong they are both hot and have great bodies but Vance has sandy brown hair and pale blue eyes with a sculpted face. Bryce had dark brown hair with bright blue eyes and prominent facial features.

"Vance is just a cover! How many times do I have to tell you that! He makes me more popular!" I exclaim

"Your a cheater." Emit teases

"Well your a player!" I tease back

"Please stop you two!" Karman exclaims

"I will show you player!" He says and jumps in the water after me.

I jump off my bored and swim away from him, but he catches me. He tickles me.

"Stop!" I yell in between laughs.

Then I decide to fake drown. I let my body go limp in his arms. I close my eyes and steady my breathing.

"Maya? Quit messing around your acting like your two." He exclaims

He takes me to the shore and sits me on the beach.

"Maya!?! I know your faking!"

"What did you do to her!?!" Karman asks

"Looks like I'm just going to have to do CPR!" He states

"No! I'm fine! I'm fine!" I say jumping up and we all laugh.
