Maya's POV:
I can't believe Bryce just did that! Well I mean I guess I deserved it. I did the same thing to him. I mean it's not like I know for sure that he likes me. I mean we barely talk. But is that needed to know there's chemistry there? Do our actions speak louder than words? When his eyes lock with mine does that say more to him than anything else like it does for me?
I sit back down at my table.
"Where did you go?" Vance asks
"To throw away my napkin I told you that."
"Oh that's right."
*ding ding ding*
"Well lunch is over see ya."
I hop up from my seat not wanting to waste any more time in this awful school.
I sit through the rest of my classes impatiently. Finally the 3:00 bell rings.
I am up out of my chair and in the parking lot in no time. I am so ready to go home and get out on the waves. There is a beach bash surfing completion and I really want to be in it.
I speed down the high way, not paying much of attention when suddenly my car starts making this weird thumping sound I pull into the emergency lane.
I hop out of the car. I realize that In the highway there was a broken bottle.
Crap, if my tire is popped I'm going to flip.
I look at the tires and the front left one sure enough is popped.
Oh my gosh. Not this I'm going to be late to the beach bash. I know I will be. This sucks. I don't know what to do. I sit on the hood of the car.
I get out my to call Herman.
'Hello?'
'Herman! My tire is popped and I'm stranded on the high way.'
'My goodness, darling! Don't you have a spare tire?'
'Well I would say so, but what good is that going to do me?'
'Try and put it on?'
'I can't do that, I have no idea how to.'
'Im about an hour away from you grocery shopping dear. But Ill be there'
'No I'll just call Karman. Don't worry about its.'
'Alright you be safe, bye bye now'
I start to dial Karman's number when a 1970's model blue mustang pulls in behinds me.
Great who is this guy.
"You need a little help?" He calls out the window.
"Uh well my tires popped, and do I look like the type of girl who can change a tire?"
He opens his door. And gets out. He is wearing Ray Bans combat sunglasses. But I know who it is instantly. His smirk lights up his face and his perfect shoulders still stand out under his leather jacket. He pulls out a wrench.
"Bryce?"
"That's me. Your lucky I keep this thing with me."
"Yeah, thanks"
"So does this happen a lot?" He asks pulling the spare tire out of the trunk.
"Uh no, it never happens."
"Well you should watch where your going."
"Don't tell me how to drive."
"I'll do what I want princess."
"Don't call me that."
"You see this car, id say this cost your daddy a pretty penny. Your a princess."
I roll my eyes.
He takes the tire off.
"So how's that cocky jock boyfriend of yours?"
"Vance? He's good."
"Do you know how many times I've had restrain myself from beating that guy up."
"Yeah well, was today in the cafeteria one of those times?"
He pauses "why would you say that?"
"You looked pretty mad that's all."
"You know this would be easier if you would get off the car." He says changing the subject
"Uh right." I say and hop of the car. He makes me melt inside the way he has the bad boy act down to a point.
"You know this day was supposed to be great. But it turned out to be a disaster."
"Well not everything is perfect in life."
He says finishing the tire. He stands up and brushes his hands off.
"Yeah well I'm going to be late to the beach bash. And I won't be able to compete in the surfing tournament." I mutter under my breath.
"You surf?" He asks
"Uh yeah a little bit."
"Well that's a surprise. I am headed to the beach bash too. I didn't know you were going to compete."
"Yeah I planned on it."
"Well you still have some time, you could make it."
"I guess so. Thanks for this." I say smiling
"Yeah well don't worry about it. But watch where your going next time."
"I'll keep that in mind." I say softly and he gets back in his car and zooms off.
He makes my heart melt. If he's going to the beach bash. So am I. Beach bash here I come.
