Chapter 8 ~ Cast Off

December 5, 2015

Emmi's POV**

I woke up and looked at my clock. It read 8:36 A.M. I went downstairs and saw Mommy making some coffee. "Are you excited?" she asked me, smiling.

Excited? I thought. Oh yeah! Today was the day I was getting my cast off for good! "Yes! What time do we leave?"

"Well, you're appointment is at 10 so we probably have to leave at 9:30" she said as she sat on the stool next to me. The hospital was 25 minutes from our house, being we live in the mountains. I walked over to the fridge and took out the orange juice. I then took a bagel out of the drawer. I sat at the breakfast nook and ate silently as mommy went to take a shower.

"Heyyy, Loofus McGoofus!" Dad said as he walked out from behind the corner, vlogging.

"You scared me! I didn't hear you coming!" I laughed.

"I do have the step of an angel!" Dad had lost a lot of weight since last year. He is back to the same weight he was when he ran the LA Marathon, he ran the New York Marathon in October, and now he was training for the Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati, Ohio in May. "Today's the big day, right Babytard?"

"Yes! I get my cast off today, guys! I'm so excited!" I said into the camera lens.

Collette's POV**

It was now 9:20 and it was time to start getting ready and get ready to leave. "Does anyone want to go with Emmi and I to the hospital?" I asked. "Dad is staying home if you don't want to come."

"I'm not feeling it," Gavin said as he drank his milk.

"I want to play LEGO's!" Brock told Shay. I guess that's a no.

"I'll go. I have nothing else to do," Avia said as she walked in with her jacket.

"Yes!" Daxton said. He had just turned 2 and was dying to go anywhere!

"Okay! Avia and Emmi, get your coats and get in the car. Daxton go grab your jacket and I'll help you put it on."

"Kay!" Daxton said as he screamed down the hallway.

Emmi's POV**

When we got to the hospital, we checked in and found a spot in the waiting room to sit. I sat in between Avia and Mom. Daxton was on the floor playing with a Hot Wheels car he had brought.

"Emmi?" a nurse said into the waiting room.

"That's us," Mom said as she grabbed Daxton's hand and motioned for us to follow her.

"I'm going to have you sit right in this bed, Emmi. I'll be right in with the sawing machine," the nurse explained as she left the room.

"What does she mean by sawing machine?" Avia asked, looking a little scared. She hadn't attended any if the other appointments.

"It doesn't hurt. It just cuts the cast open. The most I feel is a little vibration," I told her. The nurse then walked in with a blue machine.

"Are you ready to get this cast off?" she asked pulling my hand up.

"Yes! I'm more than ready!" I giggled as I felt the vibration of the saw cutting open my cast.

"Ewww! That's gross!" Avia said when she saw my arm. I will give it to her, my arm was flaky and not the most pleasant sight. The nurse just did a few more things to make sure my arm was okay and then she gave us a wrist brace for when I did any physical activity. I could do all sports , though.

When we got home, everyone wanted to see my arm. First, I told them that I had to wash it because it was really gross. Then I let them see it and Dad vlogged about it.

"Hey guys! Babytard got her cast off! How does it feel?"

"It feels weird not having the cast on!," I said. He talked to the camera for a few minutes and then he turned it off.

"Hoe about we all go to lunch to celebrate Emmi getting her cast off!" Dad pronounced.

He also invited Uncle Casey and Aunt Kayli, Aunt Carlie and Steve (who are getting married in April), and Grandma and Grandpa.

(Author's Note: Hey guys! Here's another update for you! It kinda goes all over the place and isn't very put together but it was last minute. I had a family picnic tonight for all freshmen so I had gotten home and updated. I also start school this Wednesday so I'll try to put up an update before then because I might be getting a lot more homework this year😔 Thank you guys for reading my story and see you next time!)
