"COWABUNGA!!"
Ace has been cracking me up the entire time.
"Did you just see that wave?"
"Yeah that's was radical," I laughed mocking his lingo..
"I know all the hip new words!" Ace blurted as a wave knocked him under again.
I couldn't help but laugh again he was just so hilarious.. As I saw his head pop out of the water he did what I call a Harry hair flip.. Harry Styles from one direction does it and it makes all the girls go wild. Including me! I was trying not to stare but it's just so hard. He climbed back into his board and smirked.
"What?" I questioned a little nervous
"Oh nothing.." He just have me a cheeky grin and started paddling.
I followed him a little hesitant. He just kept paddling all the way up towards the shore. By this time I figured it was safe and he was just trying to fake me out. I paddled a little faster to be next to him and break the awkward silence. I paddled up to his side and turned to talk. The next thing I knew I was swallowing water. I popped out of the water coughing and gasping for air. Great two in one day! He was laughing like he was the funniest person he knew but then he started to look worried. I climbed up on my board and layed there coughing.
"Oh my goodness Alani are you ok? I didn't me-"
He was cut off by me making him swallow water. He came out of the water and I just gave him one if his own cheeky grins. He returned it.
"Truce?"
"Truce,"
I held my pinky out and he took it and that was that.
We came up to shore and walked up to where we left our stuff.
"I had an amazing time today, Alani! I would love to do it again,"
No way Ace Smith THE Ace Smith just said this. Just play it cool play it cool. That's when Ace started cracking up and I realized I said the last part out loud. My cheeks started to burn and Ace just laughed even harder. I have to admit his laugh is adorable. After he caught his breathe he just gazed into my eyes. It was making me nervous because there's nothing for him to gaze at. My eyes are dirt holes.
"So you gonna surf again tomorrow?" I had to break this awkward stare down.
"Yeah uh want my number so we can talk to eachother and plan?"
"Sure!"
I'm ecstatic! He tore a piece of paper out of a notebook and started to scribble.
"Here you go beautiful," he said with a wink.
Nuh uh I am totally dreaming! Nope he said it! Well answer him dummy!
"Thanks stud muffin," I smirked and he just laughed.
"So I gotta go but I had so much fun and hope we can do it again! Text me?"
"Absolutely! I had a great time too. See ya tomorrow!"
I watched as Ace turned to walk away as I slid on my flip flops and started towards the sand path back to my house. I couldn't believe what had just happened. Ace just told me he had a great time and gave me his number. He gave it to me! This is unreal I can't wait to tell Naomi. I pulled out my phone and texted her.
Everything went great! FaceTime in 5?
Yay! Sure I can't wait! :)
I walked up to my back door leaving my board. I stepped into my house dropping of my sandy clothes on the way. I peeked into the kitchen as I climbed the stairs seeing my mom standing there.
"Hey mom,"
"Hey Alani! How was your day?"
"The best!"
"I'm glad"
I rushed up the stairs to change and dry my hair a little before facetiming Naomi. After changing into my comfy baggy outfit I set up my phone and started to call Naomi. She picked up in the second ring and it was connecting.
"Hey you guy magnet!" Naomi smirked as she appeared on the screen.
"Hey boo bear," I gushed using her old childhood nickname I called her.
"So the date,"
"It was amazing!"
"Spill!"
"He's just so funny and a great surfer! We had so much fun just being total goofballs!"
"Well that is what you do best," another smirk
"I know," I flaunted flipping my hair.
"Ok what else,"
"Well I don't know.... Oh. My. Goodness. HE DID A HARRY HAIR FLIP!" I squealed into my phone.
"Nuh. Uh."
"Yeah huh. It was sooo attractive! Oh and he gave me his number!"
"Wow you too really hit it off,"
"I guess so, I couldn't be happier!"
"I can tell. You're literally glowing,"
"Dinner!" I heard my mom shout up the stairs
"K be right there!" I answered
"Gotta go. Text you after?"
"You know it. Peace out eastside chicken!"
We have such strange nicknames.
"Later Lou!"
See? I hung up the phone and watched as my friends face left my screen. I walked down the stairs and the sweet smell of pancakes filled my nose. Breakfast for dinner. Could this day get any better?
