"Come on, follow me, Lu--," I heard Mason say. I knew he was about to say Luna but then took it back.
"What? Won't I be staying here?" I answered honestly shocked. If my mate didn't want me in the cells, shouldn't he have talked to me and told me to come with him? Granted I wasn't listening to him. But, still.
"Alpha Axel asked me to handle this situation. And I figured that you probably wanted to take a shower and eat something," he answered cluing me in on my mate's name. Good to know that my own mate can't be bothered to handle our "situation."
"Yeah, sure. That sounds great actually," I told him, pretty grateful that he offered yet desperately trying to follow him as we go through multiple halls. "You know I was wondering if I could use a phone to contact my family."
"Alpha has already contacted your Alpha, Alpha Jarred I believe, who was supposed to inform your parents about your stay at our pack."
"Yes, but I would like to talk to them personally," I stated, really missing my family and wondering how they were doing.
"I think this is a matter you should discuss with Alpha."
As he said this, I realized that once again I have trusted this man to take me somewhere, even though the last time he led me somewhere I ended up in a prison cell. And to top it all off, they were even treating me like I am a criminal by not even allowing me one phone call. My sadness was morphing into anger by the second, and I refuse to be treated like a think they can just take wherever they like. The last straw was pulled when he led me into a slightly narrow hallway. There was barely any lighting and there were spider webs everywhere. I didn't realize how sweaty I had become until I wiped my clammy hands on the fabric of my dress. Where is he taking me?
"Stop!" I shouted, "I am sick of this. You will tell me right now where you are taking me or else I swear I will not stop yelling." Pride filled my chest as he stopped and looked back at me.
"Lu-- Um, I am taking you to the main pack grounds, like I promised," he said quietly.
"Well, forgive me if I don't believe you, but the last time you 'promised' to take me somewhere I ended up here. Also, how dumb do you think I am? When you brought me here, the main pack grounds were to our left and I could see the buildings as we came here. But, you keep taking me through different corridors that don't look familiar at all. And, I am assuming that we should be outside at the moment. Not in this goddamn building." He looked slightly hurt by the time I finished my rant. How dare I claim that the Beta of the Blood Venom Pack was untrustworthy?
"Listen, I really am taking you to the main pack grounds, but I thought that you wouldn't want to see any of the other pack members, especially the way you look right now. Um, not that you look bad, but that, um you know. So, I decided to take you through the underground pathways. Really, only the Alpha and I, also former alphas and betas know about this route. So, you are in for a little treat." His confession reminded me that I look like a mess came alive. Again, I felt grateful for this man for thinking about how I would feel if the other pack members saw me looking like this. I mean, having dried up blood and mud, as well as a ripped dress, all over me isn't the best first impression a potential Luna can make on a pack.
"Thanks, I guess," I offered, "I am sorry I keep yelling at you. I mean you don't deserve it. I think everything you did was because of your Alpha. And, even though you brought me here, I believe it was under his orders." I truly believed what I had just told Mason. I despised this man at first, but now I see that his own Alpha is cold towards him. He probably has no room for error, one mistake and he is out. We kept walking silently for a while, with me trailing behind him. The underground pathways were exciting. I have to admit.
"So, when will I be going home?" I asked breaking the silence and hoping that it was sooner than later. I really wanted to see my family and go back to the way everything was before this nightmare happened.
"I think this is a matter you should discuss with Alpha."
"Well," I said dragging it out, "I am not officially on the best terms with your Alpha. So, if you could fill me in and answer my questions, it would be absolutely phenomenal," I finished with fake enthusiasm. But, he didn't respond. I guess, we are back to the silent treatment, huh? Because I was trailing a couple feet behind him, I skipped quickly trying to match his pace and stood in front of him. Just as I was opening my mouth to speak, he shoved me to the side and kept moving. Excuse me?
"Fine, if you don't want to answer, I am going to stay here," I finalized, stomping my foot, "Hmph. Deal with it." I realized that I was acting a little--a lot-- immature but he started it by ignoring me. I heard him release a deep breath, then he approached me. I won! But, my victory was ephemeral, as he hoisted me up on his shoulder and kept walking. Now, my stomach was lying on his extremely muscular shoulder and the quicker he moved, the more it felt like I was receiving mini punches to my abdomen.
"Alright, alright! I will 'discuss this matter with your Alpha.' Just please put me down, I feel like I am going to throw up," I declared, really hoping he would listen to me. But, unsurprisingly, he ignored me again. "Please, Mason, I will shut up," I negotiated. That seemed to work as he put me down. Soon enough, I found that we were ascending a staircase. Each step creaked louder than the former, and that freaked me out. Hello? Is this even safe? But, since I promised that I will stay quiet, I decided to keep my own comments to myself.
When we got to the top, I saw him pull on a door which also creaked open. So, this is one of the secret doors to the underground maze. He let me through, then closed it quietly.
I was finally led to a kitchen and ate until I was full. I felt a burst of happiness go through me. However, that left me when I heard Axel's voice utter, "Why the hell does she have your scent all over her, Mason?"
