"Keep up will you Mira."
The man took big strides, barely leaving any time for his daughter to keep up.
" Yes Father." She replied with obedience. He grunted in reply.
Maur Gaunt was a cold man. Taking after his grandfather and father, Marvolo and Morfin Gaunt. Maur upheld is pureblood status with a sense of pride and bitterness towards half-bloods. Especially Muggleborns. The second last alive male descendant of the great Salazar Slytherin, believed in Pureblood Supremacy passionately. Along with the rest of the sacred Gaunt family before him.
His daughter however, did not share his ideas.
Mira Gaunt. A name that would be learnt well in the wizarding world... of course all in time.
A nimble girl, both in appearance and mind. With long platinum blonde hair, that covered most of her body and face.
A subtle contradiction from her family.
Mira struggled to keep up with her father's long strides, having to run to catch up with him.
It was her first year at Hogwarts, and Mira felt more excited than she had ever felt before. She wasn't sure if it was because she was generally excited about learning more about her magic, or finally not being underneath the watchful and judgemental eyes of her father. She supposed she'd find out after arriving.
She grinned, as she walked through to platform 9 and 3/4.
A gasp left her lips as she saw a magnificent red steam train. Nothing like she had seen before. Although that wasn't saying much, as most of her belongings were drab and dark. To match her family's personality.
Her father glared at the admiration on her face, which she had not bothered to hide. Mira lowered her head in submission, the glint in her eyes gone. She watched as one of the many servants from her house pushed Mira's belongings towards the back of the train. Mira felt sympathetic for the boy, who could only be a few years her senior. She stopped him, to collect her black cat, before allowing him to continue.
Her father scoffed at this.
Mira resisted the urge to glare at him, knowing quite well where it would lead her. Instead she chose to stroke her cat Antares, which purred in contempt.
" Now Mira," Her father stated, looking down on her. Mira quickly snapped her head to him, being brought back by his voice.
" Yes Father?"
" As I have told you, when you arrive at Hogwarts, you are to be sorted into Slytherin. I shall expect no less from you, as my father did of me and so on. I will not have the likes of you tarnishing our great ancestor: Salazar Slytherin's noble name with the odds of being sorted into anything else. Understood?" He said, in a clipped and stern tone. His cold and calculating eyes looked down upon his daughter, waiting for her response.
" Understood Father." She whispered, looking down and shuffling her feet.
" And one more thing. You are under no circumstance allowed to associate yourself with those halfbloods or filthy mudbloods. They are a disgrace to the wizarding society, and you shall not ruin my reputation. Instead I want you to associate yourself with the children from the Black family, the Malfoy family, and the Lestrange family. Especially Rodolphus Lestrange, as he is soon to be your betrothed." He added, a bitter tone at the mention of 'mudbloods'. Mira nodded again, as a high pitched squeal filled the station. Mira felt her stomach tie in knots, as she looked at the train.
" Goodbye Father." She farewelled, in the hopes her father would respond. But to no avail, as he gave a stiff nod, before striding off towards the exit.
