Mira's Pov

I was sat comfortably on the green cushioned sofa, as I read my new book. 'Most Macabre Monstrosities', it was called. It was quite old, but it was quite interesting. I had bought it at Borgin & Burkes in Diagon Alley only a few days prior.

I sighed in contempt as I snuggled further into the sofa, the only sound in the common room being the crackling of the flames. I remember being oddly curious when first arriving, to see that the flames had been made green, to match the rest of my house.

If you hadn't already guessed... I'm in Slytherin. My fifth year to be exact. You could only imagine the thrill on my father's face when he received the news. The most emotion I had seen on his face in all of my eleven years of life. Of course, I'm fifteen now, and he hasn't smiled since. But I suppose that was to be expected of an important man such as him.

I rolled my eyes at the thought, returning my attention back to my book, as I was on chapter 36: 'Werewolves and Lycanthropy". It was quite interesting really. Although I couldn't imagine anyone with such a terrible condition. I flipped the page, when footsteps could be heard coming from the stairwell to the dorms. I glanced up to see Narcissa coming down the stairs, with her blonde and brown hair swept gracefully into a chignon.

" Where are you going?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. Narcissa looked at me, a faint blush on her cheeks.

" None of your concern really, Mira." She lied, waving a hand at me dismissively. Smirking, I spoke without drawing my attention from my book.

" It would be an awful shame if someone were to catch you sneaking out of school during dinner." I stated sweetly, turning the page. Sparing a glance at Narcissa, I saw her snap her head towards me.

" You wouldn't dare." Narcissa warned. I shrugged nonchalantly. She narrowed her eyes at me.

" Come on Cissy, I'm kidding." I chuckled, putting my book aside. She huffed, and adjusted her nice black dress, which was hidden underneath her robes.

"Yes, well, I wouldn't know. And shouldn't you be at dinner? I heard Rodolphus was looking for you." She reprimanded, taking a step towards me. I resisted the urge to roll my eyes.

" I'd rather not socialise with people while i'm trying to eat. Not that i'm hungry. As for Rodolphus, he knows where to find me." I answered, not meeting her eyes. I heard her sigh in frustration.

" Mira, I know you dislike him, but it's important that you at least talk to him. Because whether you like it or not, he is your betrothed. And you have an engagement party coming up at Christmas, so it would be best to at least get to know him." She reprimanded, a motherlike tone in her voice. I grumbled, glaring at her.

" Easy for you to say Cissy. You've fallen in love with the man who you are to marry. And he loves you back dearly. You and Lucius have it easy compared to me. I never asked for this." I growled, anger bubbling inside of me. I had a very short temper. Cissy sighed, a sympathetic look in her eyes.

" I know, and I truly am sorry. But at least try, please. Maybe it would do you some good. Plus you need some food. Don't think I haven't noticed you skipping meals." She warned, before giving me a small smile. I returned a forced one, before she exited the common room with a slight skip in her step.

I sighed in agitation, as I swung my legs of the sofa. Groaning, I realised that Cissy was right. I at least needed to make an effort. Especially since we were to marry in a mere two or three years. Plus I was pretty hungry, now that I thought about it.

Getting up, I combed my hair briefly with my fingers, while making my way through the corridors, towards the great hall. I felt a little self conscious, as I did not have my robes to cover my frame, and my hair was messy (although I did hope it was in a good way). Trying to push those thoughts aside, I pushed open the doors to the hall, and several heads whipped around to look at me. A flash of fear was present on all of their faces, as they quickly focused their attention back on their food. I sighed, but still made her way to the Slytherin table.
