Jade Anderson's POV
The only reason I'm even getting out of bed and going to the first day of freshman year, is to get out of the house. Me and my mom don't exactly see eye to eye, and trust me I cannot hold my tongue around her for one more day. She's always telling me to stop drawing and actually do something useful. I guess she wants me to find something that I can do as a career, but i'm just not interested. Being dyslexic, school has always been a struggle for me. Doing new things has never been something that I really like to do, and my best friend Alana is always trying to change that. Just the other day, I was dragged to the beach on yet another random adventure. I'm in my own bubble, and I like my bubble. So when people try to take me out, it only gets smaller and smaller.
Alana Hale's POV
First day of freshman year... YAAAY... note the sarcasm. I like most things, but school is just not one of them. I'm usually a carefree person, I like exploring new places, especially at the ocean. I have always loved going to new places, and seeing new things but there is no place on this earth better than the sea. Me and my mom love going to the beach, we used to go there all the time but ever since my step-dad came into the picture, we have been spending less time together. But I still go to the ocean every weekend. The only thing that even comes close to the feeling of the ocean breeze is the satisfaction of getting a routine correct at dance. The only other thing I like to do is spend time with my best friend Jade. Jade and me are complete opposites and yet somehow we have managed to become close. Speaking of Jade, where the heck is she!?
So I head off looking for Jade, I would text her but my mom says I can't have a phone, and I kinda get lost in the process. It's so hard to read these stupid school signs. I have dyslexia and the tiny words on the school walls just aren't cutting it. Anyway I think I see Jade. She will tell you different, but she is absolutely stunning. She has long brown hair with beautiful amber eyes, but she is always trying to disappear. She has olive skin and a lean, athletic build. She gets that from running track. I on the other hand, am plain with jet black hair that's always in a braid and green eyes.
"Hey Jade! Get your butt over here and help me read this stupid paper!"
"What in the world makes you think I can read that any better than you?"
"I don't know just help me find first period. We either have geometry or geology." Jade rolls her eyes and says, "Give me the stupid paper. Its geometry. I think."
"Ooooo, someone's a little snappy today."
"Oh shut it."
I snatched the paper back out of Jade's hand and shoved her against the lockers. She playfully smacked me on the back of my head and we made our way to geology...wait geometry.
Jade Anderson's POV
I love Alana to death. She has beautiful long, black hair that she always has pulled into a loose braid and blue-green eyes. Her skin is freckled and tanned from the hours she spends on the beach, and she has a thin, athletic body from dancing. BUT.... sometimes I have to pretend like I have no idea who she is. We were sitting in the back of the room, and Mrs. Purfield was passing out her class's syllabus, when Alana decides to scream at the top of her lungs. Great first impression Alana.
