When Emelia woke up, she was slightly disoriented. She then recalled all of the day's events and felt like she had been run over by a truck. She sighed and ran a hair through her hair quickly, getting up and heading downstairs to find Alessia. What she found was not only Alessia, but Emmett as well, both fast asleep on the couch. Emelia smiled at that sight and slipped quietly into the kitchen where her mom was making dinner. Emelia hopped up on the countertop and picked up an apple, tossing it in the air.
"Hello, Emelia. How was the mall?" Emelia made a face at her mom and continued playing with the apple, not answering her mom.
"Emmy, please answer me."
"Damon showed up."
"He what?"
"Yeah, he showed up and Matt got defensive, but it made me mad that he wasn't listening to me...so I yelled back at him and now he's not talking to me."
"Oh, dear, Matty will come around though. He always does. It's just a lot for him to take in. He loves you Emmy, more than you know." Emelia nodded, looking at her lap.
"I just can't stand him being mad at me!" Tears started leaking from her eyes. Her mom walked over to her and pulled her into an embrace.
"Hush there, he'll come around. How could he not, you and Sia are his entire world!" Emelia knew what her mom said was right. She pulled out of her mom's embrace and hopped off the counter.
"I'm gonna go call him, Ma."
"Good idea, sweety." She walked out of the kitchen and to the back door. She dialed Matthew's number and stuck the phone to her ear, waiting for his deep voice to soothe her once again.
"Hi Lia." Matthew's voice quietly rumbled.
"Hey Matt." Emelia whispered. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have gotten mad at you, you were just trying to protect me."
"I'm sorry too. I get very defensive when someone picks on you, I don't like seeing you hurt like you were with Damon. Especially because I don't know what exactly happened between you two to cause you to dump him."
"Yeah..." Emelia was silent on the other line.
"Lia, I'm sorry. Can you forgive me?"
"Of course."
"Good. Wanna meet me for dinner tomorrow? Bring Ale."
"Sure, what time?" Emelia smiled.
"Let's say...5?"
"Sounds good. See you then."
"Yep." Matthew hung up the phone. Emelia pranced back inside and told her mom of the plans. Her mom smiled at her and kept working on dinner. Passing through the living room again, she paused, and snapped a picture of her brother and daughter, and kept going to her bedroom. She was just glad that Matthew was no longer mad at her.
