Mare
As Maven guides me down the winding halls our footsteps are the only noise that can be heard as we walk down, in my mind, thousands of hallways before Maven stops ins room with a stool and a small speaker. He untwines his arm from mine, walks over and turns the speaker on to a nice, quiet, and peaceful song. He then holds his hand out to me and I take it slowly. He pulls me towards him and suddenly I am against his chest blushing. I pick myself up and we puts one hand on my waist and intertwines his other hand with mine and I then put my hand on his waist, remembering my lessons with Lady Blonkos. We slowly move back and forth and in circles. Sure enough I trip once or twice but slowly I start to get better and I begin to match Maven's graceful movements. "You're learning fast," he whispers in my ear.
"I have a good teacher," I reply back. As we continue to dance, I suddenly remember that after this dance I may never see my family again. I feel sobs almost reach my eyes but my pride pushes them back down. "I should get back before we wake someone," I sigh. I wish I could stay here all night, just me and him, looking into his crystal blue eyes but I can't get over the fear of never getting to see Mom, Dad, Gisa, Bree, and Tramy ever again makes me pull away.
"Good idea, we both could use some rest, the ball tomorrow will be exhausting," he says quickly. Fear shoots through my eyes. Tommorow. I nod and quickly scurry up the stairs, and back to my room. I don't let myself cry because I know that it won't help. As I drift of to sleep I wonder, will I ever see them again?
