Maven
2 weeks. In that short amount of time I will gain everything I have ever wanted. Mare will be my wife, I will be be king, and I will only have to wait 3 days after that until Mare will become Queen of Norta. She was my only request from my mother. My mother knew that for me to be truly happy aas king, I would need her at my side. She eventually agreed after she couldn't use her powers to change my mind about her. She said that she would have to give Mare personal lessons if she was to be allowed anywhere near the throne, but that's alright with me as long as at the end of the day, I still have Mare by my side. As I lay in my bed daydreaming of Mare and I's future, there is a knock st my door. I open the door, putting my best bored regal expression on my face. I see Mare standing there, with a beautiful, silky dress on with a silver crown on her head. I can't help but blush at the sight of her, and she returns it with one of her own. "Do you mind if I talk to you for minute?", she asks nervously.
"Of course not," I reply quickly. I gesture for her to come in, and she quickly scurries inside, and I shut the door behind her. "What do you want to talk about?", I ask her curiously.
"I'm not ready for all of this," she says sadly, "First I was just going to be a princess, but now I am expected to suddenly become queen, and rule over a whole knigdom?" I smile at this, knowing that she is just really scared.
"Mare, I know it is really sudden, but you will do great. I will be there to help guide you every step by of the way," I reply, trying to help soothe her.
"The queen had me go to a lesson with her today, and she said I will have to wear dresses every day now," she replies, blushing.
"Oh I see, it's the dresses you're scared of," I say in between laughs. She blushes even harder.
"No, I just really miss my family and my old, simple life where I didn't have to worry about these kinds of things," she breathes. I can't help but feel a little sorrow at the fact that she still misses home, but maybe there is a way I can fix that. I'll have to bring it up with my mother later.
"Would you go back to that life if you could?", I ask nervously, not knowing if I want an answer.
"I don't know anymore. It was a lot nicer that having to live a lie, but you weren't there to make me happy," she adds blushing, obviously embarrassed. I can't help but blush at her words either. Hearing her say that I make her happy makes my heart leap. I still worry that she has some feelings for Cal, but soon she will forget all about him, and love me completely instead.
