Mare

As the boat got in sight of Archeon, I gaped at the gorgeous building that look huge, even from miles away. Maven saw my face and chuckled.
"Whitefire is big, but I'll show you around," he states with a michiveos look on his face. A smile as my face burns from my blush. We both know that's just an excuse to get me and get him and me alone for a while. "Why the cold shoulder?", he asks innocently, obviously thinking he did something.
"It's not you, it's just the idea of me as a queen," I say honestly, "Plus, I have to be disguised as Mareena for the rest if my life." He looks at me with sympathy in his eyes.
"Well, if it would make you feel better, I think you'd be a great queen. Being disguised as a Silver might be something we can fix," he says, pulling me into a hug.
"Wait, you can fix this?", I say pointing to the Silver powder that covers my skin.
"If we tell them that you are a newblood, then you might just gain respect from Reds and Silvers. We can make it seem as a way to bring a new blood type into the light, and to make it seem like are marriage is an alliance of some sort," he says, waving his hands. It seems as though he has really thought about this. Like he really cares about me.
"Would they believe it?", I ask, suspicious of what he is getting at.
"Sure they will. The Reds will respect you for the color of your blood, and the Silvers will respect you for being powerful," he states, looking confident. This only makes me sad, because it is hard to overlook the fact that this is the world we live in. But at the same time, Maven has done all this so that I can be happy. If being queen means that I get to spend a lot of time with Maven, maybe the whole thing won't be as bad as I imagine. A sudden scream snaps me out of my thoughts, and before I it, me and Maven are running towards the commotion. We pass confused Red servants who don't dare question why we are running. We go down a flight of stairs, and stand at an open doorway, only to find the king laying on the ground, a pool of fresh silver blood surrounding his still, silent body. Queen Elara is crying, and beside her, is Cal holding a sword. With silver blood dripping from the edge of the blade. It barely takes a second fir me to put two and two together. Even though I don't want to believe it, the realization of what has just happened hits me harder than the thought of being queen. Elara and Maven were right. What they told me at the ball of what Cal intended to do was true. The thought of Cal doing such an evil thing, even if the king was a terrible person, he was still Cal's father. I don't want to believe it, but my mind knows better by now, even if this seems odd. Cal has just murdered the king.
