Chapter 7

My dad got off the bed and went to go grab a nurse to tell them I'd woken up u suddenly remembered about Mack.

"Wait Dad?"

"Yes sweetie"

"Where's Mackenna is she alright?"

He came back over to me and sat on the bed he took my hand in his.

"Sweetie she didn't make it"

"Wh-w-what"

"She died at the scene the impact killed her she was gone before the ambulance arrived"

I just sat that shocked staring at him

"What you need to remember Ree is that you were lucky to even survive"

"I know dad but she was my friend"

He hugged me tightly as I started crying.

"Dad can we go to Florida"

"When you get better yes sweetie"

"I want to do a lockdown there"

"You know how I feel about you going on lockdowns Ree"

"I know dad but this is more than just a place with a few ghosts"

"What do you mean"

"You know how you said some spirits can go to a place that has a special connected moment from their past"

"Yes"

"Well the sea life centre in Florida I want to go there"

"Why?"

"Because Mackenna loved that place and I want to see if she's there so I can say goodbye properly"

"Maybe when your better sweetie I'll talk to the guys and see what they think"

He got back up off the bed and went to find the nurse.

I just can't believe Macks dead she didn't deserve to die like that she didn't deserve to die at all.

I saw my dad come back with the nurse through the window but they didn't come back into my room they stopped and she was talking to him I couldn't understand what it was they were talking about because they were talking to quietly for me to hear but it must've been important because my dad got this look on his face I couldn't properly read it but I'd never seen that look before.

He came back in after about 10 minutes.

"What did doc want?" I playfully said.

"Reanaa this is no time to joke around"

"Why what did she say?"

"Reanaa you..yo...you h-h-have-

I cut him off.

"Have what dad?"

He started crying as he came back to the bed and took my hands tightly.

This had to be bad if he was crying.

"You have cancer Ree"

"They found it on the scans when they were x-raying you"

"I know I do dad"

I've known for a while I just didn't know how to tell him.

He looked confused to shit.

"What?"

"I've known for a while I just didn't know how to tell you"

At this point we were both in tears.

"You should've of told me Ree I can help you we all can help you"

"I'm sorry I just didn't know how to tell you"

"It's fine sweetie we'll get through this"

The nurse came back into the room and handed me my clothes.

"You can get changed now were going to discharge you as everything seems to be ok we're prescribing you Some pills you have to take 3 times a day morning afternoon and night before you go to bed"

Well she sounded cheerful note the sarcasm.

"Thank you" me and my dad said in unison.

My dad left the room so I could get changed. I closed the curtains and started to get out of these horrible hospital clothes.

I finished getting changed and then opened back up the curtains signifying that I was done so my dad could come back in.

He came back in 5 minutes later with the nurse sighing some paperwork I'm guessing so I could be discharged.

About half hour later we were walking out of that place on our way to the car.

"Thank fuck I'm out of there" I joyfully said

"Don't think just because you just come out of hospital I'm going to let you swear"

"Sorry dad"

We got in the car and started heading back home and wasn't I happy that tonight is actually get to sleep in my own bed. Thank Fuck.
