The next day I met King Zeid and Queen Noor on the castle steps.
"How are you holding up, my dear?" She asked hugging me.
"As well as can be expected." I answered.
"Amya!" Princess Kalila exclaimed running up to me.
"Kay." I sighed hugging her.
"Do you have an elegant bone in your body?" Her mother sighed.
"Tristan will carry your bags to your rooms. Ellenor will have dinner ready in a couple hours." I said with my arm around my best friend.
"How do you always look so beautiful?" Kay asked me as we stood in the great room.
I laughed as I glanced down at my deep purple satin strapless ball gown with sheer black fabric over the skirt and diamonds over the bodice.

"Do not think too much on what your mother said." I answered.
"She would rather be your mother." She sighed.
"Princess Amya? Have you seen Jonathan?" Cameron asked walking into the room.
"He was in the library the last time I saw him. Cameron Black, this is Kay Daniels princess of Pura. Kay, this is Cameron Black. He and his brother Jonathan are guests of Timbre."
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Princess." He smiled at her.
"If you do not find Jonathan in the library come find me and I will help you look." I said as Cameron continued to stare at Kay.
"Of course, Princess. Thank you." He walked back out of the room.
I watched Kay watch him leave.
"Could you be more obvious?" I teased nudging her.
"He is very attractive." She responded coyly.
"We have the strangest names to pair with Daniels." She shook her head.
"I mean who thinks of Kalila Daniels?"
I laughed shaking my head.
"Come to think of it I do not even know what my last name is..." I muttered.
"Amaranthine." King Zeid said walking into the room.
"Amya Amaranthine." I tried it out.
"Yes, Princess." He smiled at me.
"Thank you, your highness. Kalila and I were just about to go check on dinner." I told him.
"Do not let me keep you." He smiled.
Kay and I walked out of the great room and into the kitchen.
"'Ello Princesses!" Ellenor exclaimed as we walked in.
"Hello, Ellenor. How is it coming?" I asked smiling at her.
"Dinner is nearly done, Princess." She smiled back at me.
"Is there anything Kay and I can do to help you?"
"No, ma'am. Go relax. I will come collect you when dinner is ready. Will the twins be joining you?"
"I believe so. I will find them and ask."
"Did she say twins?" Kay asked as we walked back into the great room.
"Did I mention they're identical twins?" I asked as she looked wide eyed at Cameron and Jonathan walking together back into the room.
"I found him!" Cameron exclaimed.
"I see that, Cameron." I smiled at the twins.
Jonathan caught my eye and smiled at me.
"Will you two be joining us for dinner?" I asked.
"If that is alright." Jonathan said looking at me.
"Of course." I smiled at him.
"And I am the obvious one?" She whispered to me.
I nudged her.
I found myself unable to sleep that night so I wandered the castle before finding myself in the library where I found Jonathan reading one of my books.
"Cannot sleep either?" I asked wrapping my satin robe around me covering my low cut silk nightgown.
He shook his head and looked up at me with a sad smile.
"What did you find to read?" I asked walking towards him.
"A rather interesting fairytale." He said moving a little bit over so I could sit down next to him.
"My mother used to read this to me when I was a child." I muttered reading over his shoulder.
"May I ask where she is?" He asked looking over at me.
"She died when I was ten. She had been fighting cancer my entire life and unfortunately she lost." I answered.
"I am sorry to hear that."
"There is nothing to be sorry about. She is no longer suffering. Come here." I said taking his hand.
I lead him out into the grand foyer to where a portrait hung on the wall of my mother.

"Queen Celena." He read.
"This was taken roughly two years before she died. Those two years were probably the hardest in her fight and when she succumbed to the disease she looked more at peace than I had ever seen her."
"And your father? He was a good man?"
"He always was to me. He was much more attentive after my mother died and then even more attentive after I returned from my captivity." I answered.
"Is that why you cannot sleep? The things that happened to you."
I nodded solemnly.
"I am secretly hoping that King Abasi and Queen Daria will be the last to arrive before father's funeral."
"May I ask if he is the one that hurt you? I recall you saying they took you into the castle."
"Come sit with me." I said walking back into the library.
Jonathan followed me back in to sit down.
"The short answer is yes. He is. No one knows that. I never said anything."
"Why not? He should answer for what he did."
"Perhaps but he's a king."
"If he hurt you, the heir to the kingdom of Timbre, what has he done to others?"
"I wish I could explain to you the things he did. The fear I feel at the idea of him being in my home."
"None of your guard will allow him to hurt you, nor will I." He reached for me and I allowed him to wrap his arms around me.
I laid my head on his chest.
"Why do I feel so safe with you?" I muttered against his chest.
"I feel safe with you too. I have not felt safe in years." He rested his forehead on the top of my head.
