I tried to get up and go to him but Griffin held the sword dripping with Nicolas' blood to the front of my throat as the rest of the guard ascended the stairs.
"I will kill her. Get back." He warned.
"It's alright. It's alright. I said.
"Griffin and I should talk anyway."
"Jonathan stay in the room with Cameron and Kay. I'm fine." I called hearing rustling behind the door of the nursery.
"Perhaps we should." He reached down and grabbed me by my arm yanking me to my feet.
"Let the guard tend to Col, please." I half begged.
He starred at me for a moment before looking at Nicolas and nodding.
"Gunter. Jordan. Take Col down to the medical wing and find Dr. Black." I said hinting to get him to Jonathan.
He had a much stronger affinity for the fire element but he could try to get him stable until I could get away from Griffin.
"Aye, your majesty." They said grimly.
Griffin grabbed me roughly and pulled me down the stairs to the library where he tossed me onto the couch.
"What do you want?" I asked barely able to sit up from the pain from giving birth to my children.
"I'm leaving here with your son." He said.
"Like hell you are." I hissed at him.
He hit me so hard it stung.
"You think Abasi was smart enough to come up with this idea on his own? He hated your father nearly as much as I did."
"He was good to you."
"In the world you lived in that was true but in reality he was a vicious lord. Do you honestly believe that he had no idea about the hospital or the prison or the dungeon; your husband."
"You're a liar."
"Am I? Why don't we just find out then?" He said gesturing to the doorway just as Jonathan was thrown through it.
"Jonny." I tried to stand but Griffin placed the knife blade back at my throat.
"Come sit next to your wife." He instructed.
Jonathan obeyed seemingly to get close to me.
"Are you okay?" He whispered.
"I'm going to play something for you and you are going to tell your wife if you recognize the voice." He said and pulled out a tape recorder.
"You think you can come in here and take my child away from me."
Jonathan stiffened at the sound of my father's voice and he didn't need to speak. I knew what he'd say.
"Am I lying, Amya?" He asked harshly.
"That's not the man I knew." I whispered.
Jonathan touched my hand reassuringly but he didn't look at me.
He knew I believed him but he hated being that vulnerable. That taken off guard especially by Griffin.
"The sooner I got myself arrested the sooner Abasi would do something stupid and try to go after you himself."
"You killed Jarin." I said stunned but not questioningly.
"Unfortunately, it was necessary. He was a good ally and an even better son."
"I can't believe you killed your own son."
"He was going to tell you everything. Including my plan for this. You knew that prison couldn't hold me." He smirked at me.
"It's always been your plan to come after my son? Why?" I asked finally looking at him.
"Your son is the first pure born royal to come from the lineage of every kingdom. King Darian was a pure blood from Timbre and Marl. Queen Celena from Zephyr and Pura. Sebastian Black from Pyre and Timbre. Queen Thyra from Zephyr and Pura."
"What does that mean?" Jonathan asked.
"It means they'll get to choose. When the time comes for them to ascend the throne they'll get to choose which kingdom to rule over and the sitting monarch has to stand aside. He wants control over our son's choice." I answered.
Jonathan started shaking his head.
"Over my dead body" I said firing a sharp blast of purple light towards him.
He flew backwards and landed on the piano no one ever played anyway.
"Jonathan, go." I pushed him towards the door.
"I'm not going without you."
"You have to. I'm strong enough. Go." I pushed against him again.
Griffin grabbed ahold of me and threw me backwards. I hit the bookshelf and landed on my knees.
I looked up to see Griffin approaching Jonathan.
"No." I breathed as he raised his sword.
"What was that, your highness?" He asked turning to look where I had fallen.
"I said, no." I said appearing in front of him and firing another ray of purple light at him.
He flew backwards again. Jonathan tried to pull me out of the room but I didn't know what to do. I wanted to kill him but I also needed to maintain my hold on the throne of Timbre so I could finish healing Col.
Griffin stood up and started walking back towards Jonathan and I.
Suddenly the door flew open and Isaac ran through the library lunging at Griffin and they both flew out of the second story window. Out of instinct I ran towards the shattered window. Griffin lay on the concrete patio beneath the window a large splatter of blood around him.
Isaac hung from the windowsill by his fingertips.
"Jonathan come here and help me." I called grabbing Isaac's hand.
Jonathan helped me pull him up before I nearly collapsed in his arms.
"Amya!?" He exclaimed.
"Where is Nicolas?" I asked.
"He's up in the nursery. I did the best I could but I don't know..."
"Take me to him." I urged.
"You're not...."
"I have to be. That blade was meant for me."
Reluctantly, Jonathan carried me up to the nursery and laid me beside Nicolas. I reached over and took Col's hand and allowed myself to heal him. The white light of energy left me to heal Nicolas' chest wound. Luckily, I had healed Nicolas before or this would not be possible.
I felt myself growing weaker and I knew I only had to heal him to the point of conciousness.
Finally, I heard Nicolas take a deep breath and pulled myself back out of his wounds before I, myself lost consciousness.
