~Time skip!~
Amanda's POV
"Ok class this is the last day when you can work on your project." Mrs. Anderson said. I then turned to my partner. "Ok Jason. We just need to finish the last touches on our research and then we will be done. Got it?" I said. "Got it." He said. That whole 30 minutes me and him worked. "Done!" I said in excitement. "Finally we can relax." Jason said. "I'm going to ask what we can do until the end of class." I said. I then walked up to Mrs. Anderson. "Umm. Mrs. Anderson. Jason and I are done with are project. What can we do while we wait." I asked. "You can do what ever you want as long as you don't bother anyone when the are doing there work." She said with a smile. "Ok thank you!" I said. I walked back to where Jason was. "She said we can do anything as long as we don't bother anyone." I told him. "Ok." He said getting his headphones out. I got my jacket out and rolled it into a ball so I could take a nap. Then I was of to dreamland.
Jason's POV
I had my headphones on looking at the ceiling. Then I looked a Amanda. She was fast asleep. Honestly, I didn't think she would fall asleep that quick since everyone is talking. I then put my head on the desk. She looked so peaceful when asleep. I just kept staring at her. Her asleep made me also tired. Suddenly, the bell rang. Most of the kids in are class were staring to leave but, I didn't move I just kept staring. Most of the kids were left now. Even Amanda's friends, most likely going to meet her outside of the school. Finally, I snapped out of it and started to get up and pack up. I looked at her after I was done. She was still asleep. I then thought that I should not be a jerk and help her out. I got her stuff and packed it up for her. Then, I tried to get her up. First, I shook her. Then, I told her to get up. Since none of that worked, I chose to flick her in the head. I did this about three times. She then opened her eyes and then got up slowly. "I-is class over?" She asked. "Yeah. I packed your stuff for you." I told her giving her the backpack. "Oh. Thank you! That was very nice of you." She smiled. A little blush crept on my face. Luckily. It was faint. "Your welcome." I said. We then both walked out of the class room. When we got outside I saw Jacques waiting for me and Amanda and her friends waiting for her. "Bye Jason! I'll see you tomorrow!" She said with a smile. She then skipped of with her friends. "Bye." I said. Jacques then looked at me with a smirk. "Oh don't even start." I said. He laughed and we went home.
~The Next Day~
Amanda's POV
I was walking to school, when Jacques ran up to me. "Hey Amanda! How are you?" He asked. "I'm good! How about you?" I said in response. And with that, me and him started talking. We both started walking to my locker. When I opened it, a little note fell out. "What's this?" I said picking it up with a smile. I opened the note and saw a little poem that said:
You're the stars in my sky, the sun through my clouds, the calm in my storm, the wind in my sails, the island I've been searching for in the ocean...you're my world.

"Meep!" I squealed in shock. I quickly but the note behind my back. "What is it?" Jacques questioned. "N-Nothing!" I assured him. He looked at me with a serious face. I gave in an gave in. He looked at the note and looked disappointed. He gave it back to me with a sad look on his face. "Be careful with that one, love. He will do what it takes to survive." He said. Then he walked away. I just stood there in shock.
Jacques POV
Why. Why. Why! Why am I so upset? I should be happy for her. But I'm so upset. Is it because I looked up to him? Or is it because I...liked him. Well it's to late now. It's obvious that she likes him and he likes her. Just smile and be happy. Just smile.
Amanda's POV
Jason and I went up first to talk about our project. When we mentioned the Shapeshifter everyone had a scared expression. I talked for the first half of the project and then Jason did. After our project, we sat down and watched the our classmates present there projects. A lot of them were very good and it was time to vote. Mrs. Anderson asked to put what we wanted on a piece of paper and give it to her. Once that was done she counted all of them up. We all look to see what we were going to learn first. "Ok the creatures we are going to learn about first are the demons." Mrs. Anderson stated. We looked from there down and saw that our project was last. "Really. That sucks." I said in a sad voice. Then class was dismissed.
~Time skip to the end of the day on the roof~
Amanda's POV
I was waiting on the roof for my friends to get out of practice. Nia decided to go home without us to watch her brother and sister. I was looking at all the people and humming to myself. That's when I heard the door open. I looked to see who it was. It was Jason. "Hey." I said. "Oh hey. What are you doing up here?" He responded. "I'm waiting for my friends to be done with practice. Why are you here?" I asked. He walked beside me and then looked down at the people. "I'm trying to find Jacques. I can't find him for some reason." He said with a worried look. I wonder. Then I heard someone. I looked around and couldn't find them. "What's wrong?" Jason asked. I went on the other side of the roof to see if the person was there. Jason followed. Just as I looked around I saw a girl. She was taking out her braids and taking off her shoes and cardigan. She was on the other side of the bars ready to jump off. Jason saw this and quickly ran after her. Then she jumped. Jason was there in the nick of time. He grabbed her hand and saved her. I ran to him to help him. Then we got the girl back up on the roof. "WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING! ARE YOU TRYING TO GET YOURSELF KILLED. WHAT IN JUNIPER WERE YOU THINKING?!?" Jason yelled. The girl just stared at him. Then she started to cry. She fell on the floor crying and crying. "I-I'm s-s-sorry." She sobbed. I went on the ground and hugged her. I combed my hand though her hair. Then I looked at her. "What happened. Why would you do that?" I asked. "I'll explain why. All your questions will be answered." She said continuing to sob.
Cue Da Music 🎶
Just as I was about to take my shoes off
On the rooftop there I see
A girl with braided hair here before me
Despite myself, I go and scream
Hey, don't do it please!

Whoa, wait a minute what did I just say?
I couldn't care less either way
To be honest, I was somewhat pissed
This was an opportunity missed

The girl with braided hair told me her woes
You've probably heard it all before
I really thought that he might be the one
But then he told me he was done

For God's sake please! Are you serious? I just can't believe
That for some stupid reason you got here before me
Are you upset cause you can't have what you wanted?

You're lucky that you've never gotten robbed of anything!
I'm feeling better thank you for listening
The girl with braided hair then disappeared

Alright, today's the day! Or so I thought
Just as I took both of my shoes off
There was but a girl short as can be
Despite myself, I go and scream

The petite girl told me her woes
You've probably heard it all before
Everyone ignores me, everyone steals
I don't fit in with anyone here

For God's sake please! Are you serious? I just can't believe
That for some stupid reason you got here before me
Cause even so, you're still loved everyone at home
There's always dinner waiting on the table, you know!

I'm hungry, said the girl as she shed a tear
The girl short as can be then disappeared

And like that, there was someone everyday
I listened to their tale
I made them turn away

And yet there was no one who
Would do this for me, no way I could
Let out all this pain

For the very first time, there I see
Someone with the same pains as me
Having done this time and time again
She wore a yellow cardigan

I just wanna stop the scars that grow
Ev-e-ry-time that I go home
That's why I came up here instead
That's what the girl in the cardigan said
Whoa, wait a minute what did I just say?
I couldn't care less either way
But in the moment I just screamed
Something that I could not believe
Hey, don't do it please!

Ah what to do?
I can't stop this girl, oh this is new
For once I think I've bitten off more than I can chew

But even so please just go away so I can't see
Your pitiful expression is just too much for me!
I guess today is just not my day
She looked away from me and then she disappeared

There's no one here today, I guess it's time
It's just me myself and I
There's no one who can interfere
No one to get in my way here

Taking off my yellow cardigan
Watching my braids all come undone
This petite girl, short as can be
Is gonna jump now and be free
"That's why. All these things have happened to me. 8th grade till now. I thought maybe I should just give up." She said. "No. You can't just give up. I get it life can be hard. But you are living for a reason. You shouldn't listen to that voice in your head telling you all of these things. Stay positive! The whole world would miss you if you weren't there. People love you!" I told her. She looked at me with a shocked expression. The expression then turned into a smile. She then hugged me. "Thank you. I promise it will never happen again." She said. "By the way. My name Amanda Redding. That's Jason Heart. What's your name?" I asked. "My name is Olivia Green. I hope we can be friends!" She said. "Yeah me to. Want to walk home with me and my friends?" I asked. "Of course!" Olivia replied. "See you later Jason." I said. Then we left.
Jason's POV
Wow. Everything happened so quickly. Amanda is so nice. I looked down at all the people. I laugh a little remembering all the dumb stuff I saw her do. It made me smile for some reason. Well, I need to go find Jacques before he gets into trouble.
