My old friend always seemed quite happy in the mornings, even if it was before 5am, he always managed to be awake and daring to go. Like the little revs in his brain would be getting louder and louder as if he was about to take off at any moment. He always seemed so happy to shout at the top of his lungs "sleep is for the weak". I would always laugh and disagree but since my life took a turn for the worst and he is now buried six feet under and I'm wanted dead, sleep isn't on my agenda of things to do.
More like staying alive and keeping everyone safe and running through my head the possibilities that could happen today and have a plan and a back up plan and a back up back up plan (and so on) if those possibilities were to take place. The Mafia are as unpredictable as it gets.
As well as seeing as my brother is back in town, I might as well be writing a death letter pretty soon.
I check my phone for the time, 8:56. It was one of them days where I didn't want to move at all. I mean my lazy Sunday; not-so-fun-day, had now become the day I talk to my brother about everything that happened since I left and why now he's suddenly changed his mind. I also see I have several messages in the group chat that consists of myself and everyone who came yesterday to our group day out and also a private one from Grayson which I can't help but to smile at. I skim the group chat messages first which is basically each of them saying they wanted to do something along the lines of yesterday again. Don't get me wrong, yesterday was fun but the fact my brother just rocked up unexpectedly, what could happen next? We all hang out again and the mafia show up? Or Razor?
I try and push those thoughts and diminish them so I didn't have to focus on worrying about something that hasn't even been organised yet. I open Grayson's text to try and flush them thoughts out of my mind.
From Grayson: is everything okay? I was worried - we were worried. Can we talk this morning? Give me a call when you're awake please x
I sigh heavily. I've got time until I have to meet up with Christian. Besides the text he sent me said 5pm and Grayson wants to meet this morning so I got time. I quickly dial his number and pull my phone to my ear.
"Hello?"
"Hey Grayson, I'm really sorry for yesterday" I say.
"Jord? Thank god, I was worried about you. Don't be sorry, you couldn't help feeling sick but we was worried because it was so out of the blue. We thought the rides had made you sick. Are you sure you're okay?"
"As good as I can be. So I read your text, are you still wanting to meet up this morning?" I ask.
"Of course, what time is good for you?"
"How about after lunch? So like 3 ish?" I suggest. I glance at the clock, it's already fucking 2pm anyway, damn I slept way too long.
"Sounds good, let's meet at Queens Park I'll text you when I get there"
"Okay, see you" I say.
"Bye"
I smile to myself, hopefully this will put me in a good mood before I completely blow out on Christian again when I see him. Well, if he even bothers to show his face.
I don't put much effort into getting ready. I throw on some jeans and a black tee. I straighten my hair and do light makeup before heading downstairs to grab some breakfast. Luke is sat at the table, wolfing down pancakes and syrup. He looks up and smiles.
"Morning sleeping beauty" he jokes. I stick my middle finger up at him and knock his chair as I walk past to grab a cup of freshly brewed coffee and then come and sit beside him. "So what happened?" I glance at Luke and he's staring at me with a perplexed look on his face.
