Chapter 12

LIFEPOINTS: 3600 (Troy) 

LIFEPOINTS: 3300 (Yugi) 

CURRENT CARDS ON FIELD: Nuvia the Wicked (Troy) 

                                                          Monster Reborn (Face-down Card) (Yugi) 

Mia heavily trembled in both fear and pain. Yugi stared at her with eyes full of distress, fearing the worst of what could come to her. He knew he had to win this duel, losing was no longer an option for him. It was never an option to lose in the first place. Mia looked up with tear-filled eyes. 

"Yu-Yugi..." Yugi had to do something, he had to figure out another quick plan and he had to do it fast. The only thing he can do right now is to defend his lifepoints until he can get two different monsters on his side of the field. And he had just the cards to help with that. Yugi just had to be lucky enough to draw them. When he shuffled his deck he knew that the most important, powerful cards were deep in his deck. He thought for a moment. 

'I need to get two monsters on the field, but I also need to keep my lifepoints protected. The best way to do this would be keeping my monsters in defense mode until I draw a monster that is strong enough to defeat Troy's monster'

"First," Yugi began, "I'll summon Big Sheild Gardna in defense mode, and will put another card face down. I'm ending my turn,". The least Yugi could do at this point is summon monsters in defense mode, even though they will still be destroyed by Troy's monster, he won't lose any lifepoints to the attack. Big Shield Garnda was rather a weak monster to attack with, but his defense points are way up on the scale. 

*BIG SHIELD GARDNA - Attack Points: 100, Defense Points: 2600

*FACE-DOWN CARD - Swords of Revealing Light

"Hm, that's the best you can do? Well then, I had thought this duel was going to last a little bit longer. I expected a hard challenge. Oh well - Nuvia the Wicked, attack now!" Yugi's monster may have been destroyed, but because of it being in defense mode Yugi's lifepoints were safe from going down, but that apparently didn't mean that Mia was still safe from harm.

Yugi heard Mia cry out in pain again. A deep stab claimed her left arm.

"Mia, no!" Yugi never seems to be afraid of anything really, but it shattered his heart to have to see her in so much pain in such little amounts of time. He was truly afraid of what could happen to her if he lost another monster on the field again. He figured out even if his monsters are in defense mode and get destroyed, Mia still pays a price. 

'I can't afford to lose any more monsters during this duel. No matter what position they're in something bad happens to Mia. And I can't bear to see this done to her anymore'. 

"Stop this madness now," Yugi demanded, "why are you doing this?" 

"As I said, that's for me to know and you to find out. Now, I believe my turn is done, continue with your worthless plan. Nothing can save her now. She's mine, and you'll be next!" Yugi grunted in frustration and anger. 

'You've got to be kidding me,'. Yugi drew the top card off of his deck. 

'Finally,'. Yugi found a card that can be used to weaken and destroy Troy's powerful monster. 

"First, I'm summoning my Celtic Guardian in attack mode! And I'm activating my Shrink Spell card, causing your Nuvia the Wicked to lose half of its attack points. Your monsters attack points are now only 1350! Celtic Guardian destroy his Nuvia the Wicked!" Troy shielded his eyes from the blinding light coming from the obliteration of his monster.
