Shadow's POV
"Is the baby okay?" Someone spoke. I looked up to see a fidgeting Timothy. I've been sitting here for hours, they won't let me see her. They say she's okay but she is resting. The doctor said the best thing for her right now is sleep. She's been dealing with so much, her body is deprived. The bullet missed anything vital -- thank god. The positive pregnancy test turned out to be a false positive. Apparently, it's normal after recently having a miscarriage. It makes sense. It just hurts all over again knowing that we lost the baby. To think she was pregnant again and that we could have lost another one because of my selfish stupidity.
"Uh, turns out it was a false positive," I answered. Timothy came over and sat next to me.
"I'm sorry, I feel like this is all my fault." Timothy rests his head on my shoulder. I sighed and buried my face in my hands.
"This isn't your fault. I should have just stayed put." I mumbled. Marylynn didn't know I could hear her, using her voice to text. Whoever she was texting, which I'm assuming is Ruvik, she told them her theory about me being followed. They're unsure if I was followed, or if it was a set up all together. All I know is we're stuck in this fortress until he is caught. Even Angeline. Marylynn doesn't want to risk anything else.
"How is Mistress doing?" He said quietly. I was going to respond when I heard screaming. Me and Timothy both shot up. I immediately ran past all of the guards into Angeline's room. She was thrashing in the bed, causing her stitches to come out.
"Angeline!" I cried, trying my best to keep her still while the doctor tried to stop the bleeding. She calmed down when I said her voice, her eyes opened slowly and a tear escaped her eye.
"Baby.." She croaked.
"Mistress, the baby..." I began.
"You." She tried reaching up to my face, I met her cold hand and pressed it against my face.
"I'm okay, Mommy. Are you okay?" I whispered, a tear falling down my cheek.
"I'm nothing without you." She whispered. I pressed my lips against hers, she deepened the kiss. I felt her wince as the doctor attempted to rebandage her shoulder.
"Sorry, ma'am. Your stitches came loose when you woke up screaming. No worries, you are fine. Just barely missed your heart so you're going to need to stay in bed for a while. We gave you medicine to sleep because you're in desperate need of rest. Which beckons me to ask... How long have you had night terrors?" The doctor finished and I looked down at Mistress. She looked up at the doctor and smirked as if she didn't care about her life at all.
"I haven't been sleeping. So I wouldn't know." She attempted to chuckle but it turned into a cough.
"Can she have some water?" I asked the doctor.
"Right away. I'll be back." He smiled at both of us and disappeared from the room.
"We need to leave." Angeline croaked.
"Uh uh. You are bedridden. No leaving or getting up to do anything." I said sternly.
"Please." She cried.
"Angeline, I don't want you getting hurt again," I said sincerely, taking her hand.
Before she could say anything, a nurse came in with some water. He smiled and set the water down on the table. I heard the beeping speed up some on the monitor but ignored it and assisted Angeline with drinking the water. The nurse left and I sat down on the edge of the bed.
"Shadow, I need you to do something for me. Now, this is very important so I need you to remain completely calm. Okay?" She spoke in a rushed whisper. I leaned closer to her.
"Of course," I whispered back.
"As calmly as you can, go get Marylynn and tell her we have a suspect." She whispered. My brow furrowed in confusion. Those drugs must be making her a little loopy.
"We do? Who?" I asked.
"The nurse that was just here. He's not a nurse. He used to work for my father." She sighed. Eyeing the water suspiciously.
"Do you think he did something to the water? I swear I'll kill him with my bare hands. That son of a--" Angeline placed her hand over my mouth while holding me down on the bed with the other.
"It's extremely possible that he got a job as a nurse and it's coincidental that he works at this facility. I just need Marylynn to have someone question him. And also ask if we can get out of here... Go to a safe house or something. I don't wanna be here." She removed her hand from my mouth and caressed my cheek.
"Okay. But I don't want to leave you alone. Can Timothy sit with you?" I bit my lip nervously. I didn't want her to think she needed a babysitter. I was just worried about her and after everything that happened, I can't afford to leave her alone.
"If that makes you more comfortable, that's okay." She smiled.
"Okay. I'll be back" I kissed her on her forehead and got out of the bed. I headed out of the room towards Timothy.
"Hey, Tim. Can you sit with Angeline while I talk to Marylynn? And um, don't let anyone in okay?" I asked. He looked up at me and then towards the room.
"Um sure. Do you, um, think she wants to see me?" He blushed.
"Why do you ask?" I turned my head in confusion.
"Well after all this... I didn't want it to be awkward." He fidgeted with his hands and bit his lip.
"Timothy, we both love you. You're an important part of our lives. The best thing for Angeline is to have us with her. To support her and care for her." I gave him a reassuring smile and set off to finding Marylynn. I couldn't help but think about Timothy impregnating Angeline. If she was going to have a baby, it would be by me. We've been together the longest. The baby that we lost was mine. It probably makes me selfish. I just didn't want to share such a precious experience with someone who just became a part of our relationship. I love Timothy, he's a great guy. I guess I just feel a little possessive. Okay, a lot. I approached Marylynn who was angrily speaking to someone on the phone. I didn't want to interrupt her. Last time I did, I couldn't sit right the rest of the day.
"Um. M-Marylynn?" I tapped her on the shoulder and she put up her finger telling me to hold on. My palms started to sweat as I fidgeted uncomfortably. This was kind of a time sensitive issue. Time to be brave.
"Marylynn," I said louder. She paused and pointed at her phone in annoyance. Twenty seconds of courage. That's all I needed. I snatched her phone away and hung up on whoever she was on the phone with. She looked at me like I've truly lost my mind. If looks could kill...
"Ooooo..." Ruvik said from the bench he was sitting on. He looked back and forth at us excited like he was about to see a show.
"You better have a damn good reason for that," Marylynn spoke dangerously low, her voice dripping with anger.
"The nurse that works here, who brought Ang her water. He used to work for her father. She thinks he may know something. I'm sorry it just seemed like a time-sensitive subject. She j-just wants you to have someone question him." I rambled and handed her the phone back. I winced, waiting for her to slap me.
"Okay. Ruvik, you take care of that. Shadow... I'm very proud of you. You've finally grown a pair." She said and walked away, her heels clicking against the floor. I sighed deeply. I've never been so damn nervous. That's a lie, but still.
"Good job buddy. Maybe you can top now." He winked and headed towards the nurse's station. Pff. I've topped before. Only with Tim though. I took what little pride I had and headed back to Marylynn's room. The door was slightly ajar and I was about to walk in when I heard my name.
"I feel like it's my fault," Timothy said.
"It's neither of your faults. Everyone is okay and that's what matters." Ang replied.
"I have something to confess," Tim said quietly.
"What is it?" She asked. Right when he was about to reply, Ruvik called my name. I headed over towards him. He was standing next to the nurse in question. I gulped in fear and walked over. Here we go.
