Chapter 1 - Another day, another Bruise
The small silver four seater driven by Donna Way pulled into the school parking lot and the boys quickly scrambled to get out before their mother drove off to work. Mikey hurried off to meet up with his friends, leaving Gerard to enter the school alone, like he did every morning. Gerard took a deep breath and mentally prepared himself for the inevitable events that he was sure to get caught up in as soon as he stepped through the doors into the almost entirely accurate representation of hell on earth. Locking his elbows, Gee pushed the front door to the school open. It seemed to him as though the door got harder to open every day. Maybe it was due to the increasing amount of bruises littering his pale skin or his decreasing weight, thanks to the daily lunches stuck in someone's locker. Or maybe the door was actually getting heavier.
Waiting just inside the door was the one person Gerard feared the most, Frank Iero. Frank had been beating Gerard up for almost as long as Gee could remember, and as time passed he only got worse. If Frank didn't bully him regularly, Gerard could almost see them being friends or maybe even more. Gee had had a gigantic crush on Frank for almost as long as he had been his bully. Every time he looked into Frank's eyes, he could feel his heart thump and butterflies erupt in his stomach. He knew it was wrong to feel this way about the person who had caused him so much pain, both mentally and physically, but there wasn't much he could do to stop it. You can't exactly help who you fall in love with.
His morning went exactly how he had expected it to go and he found himself stuck in some random locker until some poor nerdy girl opened her locker at lunch time. Considering how much school he had missed that day already, Gee decided to skip the rest of the day and spend it at his favourite place. The woods.
The woods was Gerard's favourite place because it was the one place where he had ever been left alone, hidden away from prying parents and tormenting teenagers. When he was in the woods he could be himself. He could use his weird magic powers without having to worry. That much at least.
