Okay so me and my friend Kateri (ShadowKatDragon) thought of this theory that Wylan is secretly a Grisha and that's why Jan Van Eck kicked him out. And me, being the giant fanperson I am, decided to write it. Enjoy!!!

Wylan groaned.
Once again, he'd used his powers.
At least no one saw.
Picking up the paper he made fall, he ignored the feeling that someone was watching.
Standing, he turned and saw that Nina was staring, wide-eyed and slack-jawed. Wylan gulped.
"Um, hi?" He greeted awkwardly, placing the papers on a nearby desk. Nina cleared her throat.
"You're a Grisha?" She asked, shocked. Wylan shrugged.
"Sorta. I'm not very good."
"Doesn't matter. You're a Squaller! Why didn't you tell me?" She demanded. He shrugged again. Walking in, Nina took a seat on a stool and rested her head on her hands.
"Spill."
Wylan sighed, jumping on the desk and swinging his legs. Nina nodded, waiting for him to start. Wylan waved his hand, a small breeze gently hitting his curls.
"Well, I'm a Van Eck, clearly-" Nina snorted at this-"And, being the son of a merch is a huge deal in my house. So when my father found out I'm a Grisha, he flipped. Demanded I told no one and used the lie that I couldn't read. He threatened that if I told anyone, he would get me killed. So I told no one." He paused.
"Well, almost no one. I told a tutor that was an Inferni. My father found out that she was trying to get me a trainer, ending up with her fired and sold to a slaver. Guess who got punished?" He laughed bitterly.
"So, I'm a Squaller. Now you know. Don't tell anyone else though. I want it to stay a secret." He nodded at the door, which hung open. Nina nodded, smiling.
"Glad to know that Jes and I aren't the only Grisha here."
