Sam was confused. Extremely so. Gabriel just flirted with him. I mean, of course they talked, but they never actually had full on conversations. For example, no one but Dean knew he was bisexual. Everyone knew that Gabriel was bi, and he was a huge teasing flirt. But mainly the only people he talked to constantly was Castiel and Crowley–mostly because he pranks him.
