Chapter 9

           Jane, Darcy, Erik, and Ian sat at the table eating breakfast. I sat on the couch waiting for Steve to call me. He was on a mission since before I sent him that text telling him I was ok. He was due back today, and I was expecting him on any minute. "He's gonna come back." Darcy said. I heard Erik sigh skeptically. "Except, you know, last time he was gone, for like, two years."

        "Well, it's only been two days, so..." I said. 

         "Did he say anything before he left?" Erik asked. 

        "Yeah, he had to figure some stuff out with his father. He kinda committed treason... On our way out." Jane said, I nodded my head in agreement. The silence continued. Then the skype thing started to ring. I picked up my lap-top and made my way into Jane's guest bedroom for privacy.

        I answered the call and saw Steve looking at me from our apartment. "Lady, are you ok? What happened? Why couldn't I get a hold of you? What happened in London? I saw you on the news vanishing in thin air? Are you ok?" Steve asked in one breath.

        I smiled at him. "Steve honey, I'm fine." I said.

       "Are you sure? What happened?" Steve asked rapidly. 

         "I'm sure, no cuts or anything that oozes. A few bumbs here and there, but I'm fine. I met up with Jane here in London, then we got sucked into a portal with something called an Aether. It attached itself to Jane. Then we got out after a few hours, then Thor appeared." I said trying to reassure him. It didn't really work. 

        "Wait Thor?! Why couldn't I get a hold of you?" Steve asked, it looked like he was about to have a heart attack.

        "Yeah Thor, scared me just appearing right then and there. You coudn't get a hold of me because I was on Asgard." I said quietly.

        "You were where? Asgard?" Steve asked his eyes bugging out. 

       "Yup, Thor took us there after Jane passed out from attacking the police. I met his father, and mother, and a bunch of other Asgardians. I even saw Loki." I said speaking rapidly. 

         "Jane attacked the police? Loki?! Why did you see him?" Steve asked.

       "Yeah that's kinda a confusing story about the police. Frigga, Thor's mother was teaching me and she wanted to see Loki so I went with to make sure he wasn't plotting anything evil or something." I said nervously. 

        "Lady, tell me what happened. From the beginning. I want every detail." Steve said, so I did. By the end of it I had cried twice once about Frigga and another time a bit about Loki. Steve looked like he was gonna faint when I told him about my antics with the portals. I still don't know where that abominable snow thing went. 

        Steve was fascinated when I told him about the new developments in my powers. He was sympathetic when I told him about the flashbacks. Overall, he took everything very well. "I'm just glad that you're safe." Steve said.

        "So am I. Had I known what would've happened.." I said.

       "You still would've went Lady. I know you, you like to help people." Steve said.

       I laughed/sighed. "I don't know how much help I actually was. I think I just got in the way." I said.

       He smiled. "I doubt that. Are you really ok?" Steve asked.
