I groaned as I woke up in Steve's arms, I looked around confused. What happened? "Hey you're awake." I heard Steve say as we stopped moving. I nodded and then cringed, my head hurts a lot. "What hurts?" Steve asked putting my down gently.
I groaned. "Everything." I heard Natasha laugh, I smiled at her. She's ok, they both are. Very dirty and beat up, but ok. "My head hurts and my left arm." I said looking at my arm, it doesn't look so great.
I looked up at Steve confused. "When the missiles hit and we jumped in you used your body to shield Natasha and I from some of the rubble. But that means that you got hit. We got out and then you weren't healing yourself, but I didn't know what to do so we kept on going.
I smiled at Steve and stood up, Steve rushed to one of my sides and Natasha to the other. "I'll be ok, that sometimes happens. My healing abilities don't work very well when I'm unconscious." I said. "Thank you, both of you." I said and kissed Steve on the cheek.
Steve turned red as Nat laughed. "Well I wasn't going to leave one of my best friends to die was I?" She asked. We continued to walk and eventually found a car. We climbed in and headed back into the city. I looked At Steve confused, why are we heading back into the city that wants to kill us?
We got out and moved around a lot making sure we weren't being followed and then we ended up in a suburban neighborhood. I gave Steve a look. "Where are we?" I asked.
"Remember the guy I met when I went on a run a few days ago?" Steve asked, I nodded. "Well I looked him up and this is where he lives." Steve continued.
"We are involving him in this because?" I asked.
"He's the best bet we have at living right now, and i don't think he'll mind." Steve said.
I sighed but agreed and we walked up to the back door. I knocked rather loudly and it was opened. "Hey, we need a place to hide." Steve said.
"Yeah all of the people we know are either dead or trying to kill us." Natasha said.
Sam let us in, I smiled and gave him a hug. "Thanks." I said.
He smiled. "No problem, what do you guys need other than a place to lay low?" He asked.
I shrugged. "I have no clue what those two want, but I would love to have a shower." I said.
He laughed. "Upstairs, three doors on your left. I'll make breakfast too." Sam said, I nodded and went up. I took a quick shower and changed into jeans, a tank and a jacket. I took my knives out of my pack and put them on. Then I went downstairs, Sam had just finished cooking.
"I'm gonna go tell them that foods ready." He said and went up, I brushed out my hair and waited for them all to come down. I didn't eat any food, feeling annoyingly nauseated. Steve and Nat came down looking more refreshed, especially Natasha. I was surprised to see that her hair was straight again.
I looked at Sam. "Do you have a flat iron somewhere in your house? Because I think Nat found it." I said jokingly. Sam and Steve looked confused. Nat looked a little embarrassed.
They ate, I just sipped some water and munched on some toast and then we started talking. "The question is: Who can launch at SHIELD domestic missile attack?" Steve asked suddenly.
"Pierce." I said.
"Who incidentally, runs the biggest government organization in the world." Natasha said.
