Pulling out of the carpark she went down the road and pulled into the driveway of her old house. Sighing she took in the familiar sight with memories of her playing outside with her friends. Picking up her bags she locked her car and walked through the front door. Wooden floors and bright light filtered into the living room. Big windows that displayed the view of the beach. Walking upstairs she went passed her parents room and to her room. Old Posters were up and her room was all white. Old books had been left around a box filled with old things forgotten. Walking downstairs her parents were in the kitchen with her grandparents. When they had moved to the city her grandparents kept the house and lived in it.

"hey," she said addressing all of them.

"hello, darling long time no see," her grandma said to her and pulled her into a hug.

" Look at you, haven't you grown," her grandfather said ruffling her hair. Billie was happy to see the to of them.

" how about you ring Maisie see if she wants to come over, I'm sure you're dying to see her"

her mother chuckled at billies face as it lit up in excitement at the mention of Maisie's name. Running upstairs she riffled through her bag to find her phone and sent a text to Maisie.

"AHHHHH you're here oh my fucking God, I can't believe it, oops sorry Mia and Mrs. and Mr. Cotter" Maisie ran straight at Billie and tackled her to the ground. Both of them rolling in tears and laughter for the years they missed spending together.

"I missed you so much," Billie said into Maisie's hair as they were still hugging.

" Hey Mrs. C is it all good if Cal and I go for a surf, I'm sure Billies busting to go." Maisie gave Billie's mum puppy eyes.

"oh alright, I guess so" before she could fully finish Maisie squealed and dragged Billie upstairs to get her swimmers on. Billie looked in her mirror as she tied the back together on her bikini.

"man, when did you get boobs," Maisie said in a joking tone.

"Oh shove off," Billie said bumping her shoulder next to Maisie's. " last year, now let's go!" she said nearly pulling Maisie's arm off. They both went through the back door and towards the shed. Billie pushed it up and they walked inside the dark abyss filled with spiderweb. Her eyes glassed over as she saw her old board laying on a shelf on top of a longboard. She gripped onto the side rails and pulled it towards her. Feeling the stiff cold material under her arm she walked out of the shed with a smile on her face. Maisie grabbed the longboard as she wasn't bothered to go back home and get hers and the two put wax on their boards. The swishing sound and familiar smell brought back the memories of Billies and Maisie's childhood. "race you to the shore" Billie stood up and held onto her board. Maisie had already started running as she said: "you're on!".

"hey no fair!" Billie chuckled as she took off down the stairs and onto the sandy path.

Wind through their hair, sand lifting up from their feet and the splash of water met their faces. Getting hip deep in the water they paddled on their boards out and behind the break. Billie missed her first two waves, but three times was the charm and she caught the four-five foot wave. The swell was small but enough to get a good ride. She jumped off the wave and paddled to the back again.

" I missed this so much Maise, you have no idea," Billie said running her hand through the salty water.

Maisie splashed her and said, " I missed you too".

The two of them spent their time in the water just like the old times. Maisie had caught a wave in when she saw a familiar person at the shore watching them with his board in his arm.

" Hey, Curtis! How are you going?" Maisie said as she dropped her board and took her leg strap off.

" Yeah alright, who's your friend? She looks like she's enjoying her self and killing some of those waves" he chuckled at Billie as she yelled in delight as she once again rode a wave.

" Oh that's Callista and she hasn't been here in a while ". " I haven't seen her around before," he said curiously. " she used to live here but is only spending the summer back with her grandparents," Maisie said looking at Billie as she was coming in as well.

" Hey, Maise and um hey?" Billie said to the tall boy who quickly glanced his eyes up and down at her.

" I'm Billie," she said.

The boy looked at her confused and in familiarity "I thought you said her name was Callista.

" Oh it is, But "Billie" here likes to be called Billie".

The boy nodding in understanding. " I'm going to catch a wave or two, nice meeting you," he said to her in a smile. And ran into the ocean.

"who was that?" Billie asked her friend questionably.

" that my friend was Elliot Curtis"

"WAIT what? That was Elliot, he was so nice though" Billie said frowning.

"yeah, nice when he's not around his friends and nobodies that will tell" Maisie explained the boys' behavior to her.

"huh," Billie said as she looked at him in the water.
