Listen please
To the tale I tell
Of a sweet little girl
And how often she fell
But she refused
To feel tears and cry
So instead she hid
Smiling, a lie
Bubbly, happy
Always called naive
She never wanted others
To understand and grieve
If she could be strong
They wouldn't have to
Suppressing her fears
Do whatever for you
Sometimes sad
But smiling still
She's always hidden
With quite a strong will
Help other people
To distract and truly feel
She holds them tight
So they know a love that's real
There's nothing wrong
With a broken heart
Or a broken soul
Or another broken part
They are beautiful, she thinks
And they all desire love
They shouldn't get more pain
Though others often shove
She's not naive
Just prefers the light
Because hidden in the dark
Are the demons she will still fight
So any bit of peace
She'll take if allowed
Because it doesn't come often
As she's always got a crowd
If she lets you know
The storm trapped inside
Hold her close
In your arms she has cried
She too is broken
But no one can know
So the smile returns
As she continues the show
