"I hate you." Lauren snapped.
"I love you." Cody told her sweetly.
"Stop saying that!" Lauren screeched. She hated him saying those words....Yet she liked it at the same time, and that made her hate it more.
"You can't love me! You don't know me!" She added. Attempting to convince herself more than him.
"But I do. I told you that at your graduation-" Cody didn't have time to finish before he was cut off.
"YOU WHAT?!" Lauren screamed; hoping the nurse would hear her. Though she had no such luck.
"You didn't know?" Cody asked, almost like he was shocked.
"I came up to you when you were crying and-" He was interrupted again by Lauren's hand slapping him in the face.
"That was Mark! How dare you!" Lauren screeched.
"No, Mark was kissing the blond whose dress covered as much as a nightgown." Cody argued taking his own hand to her face. Though unlike Lauren he didn't hit her. He only stroked her cheek with his thumb.
"No, she came out crying because-" Lauren started then stopped... Why was the girl crying?
"Do you know why she was crying?" Cody asked. Lauren could have swore she saw fear in his eyes.
"No." She admitted, she didn't. In fact she had no idea.
"Then I'm not going to tell you. I want you to love me, not hate Mark." Cody stated.
"And why is that?" Lauren snapped back at him.
"Because you might not only hate the message but the carrier as well." Cody told her, though it was clear to Lauren that wasn't why.
"Too bad.... I already hate you." Lauren told him.
"I don't believe you." Cody whispered.
"In fact I have a poem for you..." Lauren told him with a smile.
"I hate you so deeply,
I hate you so much,
I hate the sound of your voice,
I hate the feel of your touch,
I hate your warm smile and your heartless ways,
I hate the pain that you bring to my life everyday,
I hate you today as I have from the start,
I'll hate you forever with all of my heart."
Cody's heart sank in his chest. He took his hand away from her face in shock.
Lauren smirked, ha! She told herself mentally. Take that killer! Then her smile faded when she looked into his eyes. She could have swore she saw A single tear fall from his eye.
The door opened and the nurse came in. Lauren waited for the news she was about to leave, she knew that she would be taken to what ever place Cody lived in and held hostage. She needed to tell the nurse right now, tell her what she knew.
Lauren opened her mouth to speak but no words came out. She noticed that Cody had in fact let a tear slip. Lauren reminded herself that she didn't care; she reminded herself that she didn't care,
he needed to cry.
However these thoughts didn't help her to speak, she couldn't help but feel for him the slightest bit. Thought she wouldn't let herself think that, she couldn't.
He was a monster... A monster who cared.
