Dear Diary,

I was walking towards a lecture when I noticed all the many colorful stands positioned alongside the edges of campus. It was orientation week.  Not minding the fact that I completely forgot about this, I wonder why it is being held so late. Wasn’t that supposed to be in like September when we just started? Maybe they wanted us to first get settled which is thoughtful in a way. The stands vary from Music and Drama to Literature and Arts but also Politics and Feminism. The latter engaged me most. There was also another stand positioned in between The Feminist literature and other social media club and Dancing with the darts. A short brunette with clean-cut bangs stood underneath the sign that read Mental Health Awareness Club. My legs found their way around and seconds later I was standing in front of it –eyes glued to the sign above. I was too taken aback to even register her saying something.

I’m still not sure whether what she said is accurate to what my mind made off of it.

‘’Hi there, can I help you?’’. Sounds like something she would say.

‘’Uhm…’’. Sounds like something I would say.

‘’Do you want to join our club? Learn more about Mental Health and contribute in spreading a few good words?’’. There are no good words to be spread, I already know enough.

‘’Not really’’, now I looked at her.  She is innocently cute.

‘’Oh but why not? Helping others is a really good thing and we are known to have accomplished many things in that aspect especially over the last few years. We are number four on the most successful clubs list’’ she smiled proudly but I could sense a sort of fiery determination behind her words. Not so innocent indeed.

‘’What are the first three?’’ I pressed. I like mocking people from time to time; testing their patience was a dangerous game.

She frowned,’’ The Feminist literature thing, Drama club and Arts with Mrs. D’’.

‘’But, we are soon to keep up and take a better place with new members who are willing to do as much to help’’ She shoved a piece of paper in my hand.

‘’I do hope, you’ll be able to make it. You seem like someone who likes helping others’’

She didn’t allow me to say anything else before she closed the stand and went off.

That got me thinking about people and their way of approaching others, making them do things with no questions asked. Those people could be good for the future. Could be.
