There was again tonight

Forcing laughter, faking smiles

Same old tired, lonelyplace.

Walls of insincerity

Shifting eyes and vacancy,

Vanished when saw your face

All can say, It was enchanting to meet you.

Friendship is one of the most beautiful gifts granted to God by mankind. True friendship enhances your life and makes it worth cherishing. A good friend can bring sunshine in the dullest of the days and clear away the clouds of gloom from the sky of life. Raphael was one such person. He made me smile even when I was not feeling like it. He helped me in my worries without even knowing it.

Yesterday morning had hit me worse than hurricane Katrina. Devon's words had pierced right through my heart. Although, Raphael had kept my thoughts away from the happenings of the morning for the rest of the day. I couldn't help but remember as I got ready for office.

I wore a charcoal black Rebecca Taylor coat over my navy blue blouse and grey skirt and a pair of black leather boots. As I made my way to my office in Midtown Manhattan, I noticed that it was rather chilly today and the temperature had dropped below zero.

New York is at its coolest in January and February. I could see slight snowfall through the tinted glass windows. I just love Snow. Everything about it is simply enchanting. All the shops, buildings, offices are covered with a milky white sheet. The fast moving, never tending to stop city moves at a slightly sluggish pace. The best thing about snow are the Snowflakes. No two snowflakes are alike. They all have different designs yet maintain a hexagonal radial symmetry. Rarely, triangular ones are seen (I had seen once), due to folding of snowflakes as they reach the ground. Snowflakes are just like humans, similar in the basic structure but yet so different and unique and beautiful at the same time. They are a truly wonderful creation of God Almighty.

I soon reached my office. I quickly removed my coat and boots replacing them with a work appropriate grey blazer and grey peep-toes. The central heating was working quite efficiently enabling every one to work normally. Rebecca was still not feeling well, so I granted her a holiday for today also. She would be resuming her duties from tommorow. I stepped out of my cabin to get a cup of coffee before I started my day.

I was looking into my cellphone for the checking the time when I stumbled into a wall. I quickly looked up to stare in to a pair of intense green grey eyes. I took a step back and smiled. He looked devastatingly handsome today as well in a sky blue shirt and a black blazer. The light blue of the shirt somehow enhanced the green in his eyes or maybe it was just my imagination, I don't know. I  had thought that I might have to fake a smile to show Devon but that was not the case. There was a genuine smile on my face as soon as I saw him.

"Hey Devon! Good morning and a happy new year as well", I chirped happily.

Devon looked at me with a puzzled expression on his face. He had really not expected my friendly demeanor after the emotional outburst yesterday. As he continued to stare at my smiling face, he slowly relaxed. An amusing smile played slightly on his face.
