Chapter 4

"Bucky!" Alice called out running up to him who had stopped from entering his dorm, "What's up, monkey?" Bucky asked stepping aside from the gate to stand with the teen.

Alice pouted at the use of a nickname but was quick to ignore that, "When's your wedding?"

"Either on Christmas or New Year," Bucky answered.

Bucky Barnes had proposed to his long-time girlfriend Wanda Maximoff-Rogers right before he had been deployed, he didn't wanna wait any minute longer not wanting to do what he had wanted to do for so long and with the war going on, you never know what could happen.

Sat at the dinner table would be the last meal the Rogers family and Peggy and Bucky had, for the time being, the conversation was in a smooth flow, from talking about Alice's school life to Steve and Natasha's married life, they talked about all and nothing.

The only one who was sitting quietly fiddling with the box in his pocket and playing with the food on his plate he was in deep thoughts stealing glancing at Wanda who was laughing along with something Pietro had said.

"Wanda," Bucky spoke up which surprised him, he didn't think he'd have the voice for it. Wanda hummed looking at him the conversation pausing for a moment.

"Marry me."

The adults sat at the table gasped their mouths hit the floor as they watched the two lovers look at each other while the youngest at the table choked on her orange juice staring at the scene wide-eyed.

"What?" Wanda spoke up shocked, her body froze up as she stared at Bucky who had reached into his pocket pulled out the velvet box opened it and put it on the table.

Alice suddenly stood up from her seat walking over to Pietro, climbing on his lap, since she was way too small for a 12-year-old she clasped her hands on his mouth, he was a sucker for random proposals doesn't matter if it was his sister being proposed to.

Pietro made voices of disagreement as he glared at Alice but also watched Wanda waiting for her response.

"James what?"

"Wanda I'm heading off to war soon," Bucky started, "we never know how long I'm gonna spend there and I don't wanna regret not proposing to you because I was too much of a coward, and I wanna be able to brag about you as my wife back at home not only as a girlfriend. So? Will you?"

Wanda grinned, "Yes! A hundred times yes!"

She laughed standing up and pulling Bucky in a hug who sighed happily wrapping his arms around her waist and keeping her close to him.

It took the others a minute to register but once they did let's just say the rest of the night was filled with excitement loud celebratory noises and teasing.

"Buddy, you've been engaged for literally a year," Alice commented, "you don't have a date fixed?"

"I mean, Wanda's always wanted a New years wedding and I'm not opposed to that idea-"

"New Year's wedding it is," Alice nodded walking away, Bucky frowned, "Where are you going?!"

"To torture Colonel Phillips for a few weeks off!"

"What?!"

"If I'm dead look at the Colonel's direction!"

"What?!"

"Alright," Alice spoke up, Steve, Peggy, Bucky and Pietro were all present in her room per her request, she had something she wanted the others to know, "Colonel Phillips will be giving our unit a few weeks off before all of us will be transported to Germany," Alice informed looking at the four adults sat in front of her.
