I stood up, and almost fell down due to my shaking knees. I need to talk to Dumbledore. Like, now. I know where his office is, finding out the password would be a tad bit of a problem.
I forced myself to walk down the stairs, hoping I wouldn't encounter anyone. I looked in the common room and saw that there was no one here. Lucky me, they must all be in classes.
I took in the look of the common room. It didn't look all that different. The furniture looked cleaner, but I expected that. Over years, furniture does tend to wear down. I walked out of the common room, into the corridor. I was happy to see that the house location had not moved, though I didn't think it would be.
Before I could turn and walk away, there was a voice behind me. "Have a nice day, Lily." I bit my lip. I turned just slightly to see that it was only the Fat Lady. Thank god. I smiled a little, without turning to look at her directly. My eyes were a strait giveaway that I am not Lily Evans.
"Thank you." I said quietly, before hurrying down the hall in the direction of Dumbledore's office. I didn't pass all that many people. Most of the people I did pass, however, payed no attention to me. I nearly jumped out of my skin when a voice called to me from behind.
"Lily! Lily!" They called. The voice was somewhat monotoned, and definitely male. For some reason, it rang a bell. I turned around to tell them to go away, but felt my skin go cold when I came to face with a pale kid with chin length black hair and a long, crooked nose. I was facing Severus Snape.
His eyes narrowed as he took a good look at me. "You're not Lily. You look an awful lot like her, though." He looked directly into my eyes as he spoke, making me shiver. Snape was not one that I wanted to meet in his childhood years.
Think of something. An excuse. A lie. I thought. I smiled a little. "Hello. I'm Journey. I'm a transfer from Beauxbatons." I extended a hand. He took it hesitantly.
"Severus Snape. I've never heard of a transfer this late into school. Maybe first and second year, but never fifth." He said while retracting his hand. I smiled. I am a great liar.
"Oh, well, I got expelled. Pulled a prank a little too big." I stated. His eyebrows furrowed.
"What did you do?" He asked. Shit.
"I, uh, filled out Grand Hall, that's like your Great Hall, with dung bombs and they caught me. Shipped to Hogwarts I was." I saw a small smile.
"Well, it was nice meeting you." He said. I nodded.
"You too." You know, other then the hundreds of times I've met you before and hated you. He walked off in the other direction, probably to find my mom. To find my mom. God that sounds strange.
I sighed and continued on my way to Dumbledore's office. As I turned the corner towards his office, I saw what looked to be a professor. "Excuse me." I called to the man as we approached each other. He looked at me.
"Why aren't you in class, young lady?" He asked.
"I'm a transfer and just got here. I'm looking for Professor Dumbledore's office." He nodded.
"It's just this way, dear. I'm Professor Slughorn. And you are?" He asked. I came to the realization that I needed a last name; I couldn't say that my name is Journey Potter. That would arise all sorts of questions.
"Journey, uh, Mate." I don't know where the name came from, but I instantly memorized it. Jorney Mate. My new name. I kinda liked the ring of it. Lucking, Slughorn didn't recognize my hesitation.
