PROLOGUE
I can easily remember the day that Hagrid broke into the house that my Uncle had put the family in once Harry and I started receiving letters.
Harry and I both whispered 'happy birthday's to each other when the door busted open. Harry's hand clamped over my hand, stifling the scream that was coming. He sat upright and stared at the door. Someone was coming in.
Dudley, that stupid pig, said, "Where's the cannon?" Harry's hand slid from my mouth as he stood up, pulling me up with him. Uncle Vernon skirted down the steps holding a rifle in his hands.
"Who's there?" he shouted. "I warn you - I am armed!"
Whatever was outside was big, I didn't think the gun would do too much damage. The was a pause. Then -
SMASH!
The door was hit with so much force that it swing on the hinges and landed with a loud 'BANG' on the floor.
A giant of a man stood before us. His face was almost completely hidden by a long shaggy mane of hair and a wild tangled beard. You could easily make out his eyes, though. They were looking around. I grasped Harry's hand in fear and moved slightly behind him. The man was certainly intimidating.
The man squeezed his way into the hut, bending over so his whole body would fit through the door. He picked up the door with ease and fitted it easily back inside the door frame. The raging storm outside had left a puddle at the man's feet.
"Harry.." I whimpered quietly. I was terrified. He squeezed my hand reassuringly.
Usually, I was completely fearless and didn't look to my brother for protection, but this was a different case. The man had now turned to look at all of us.
"Couldn't make us a cup o' tea, could yeh? It's not been an easy journey...." I felt his eyes land on me when he said that. Journey is my name, though I prefer to be called Jo.
He strode over to the sofa, where Dudley sat frozen with fear.
"Budge up, yeh great lump." Said the strange man.
Dudley squeaked, I didn't blame him, and ran behind Aunt Petunia, whom was crouching behind Uncle Vernon.
"An' here's Harry and Journey!" Said the giant. I cringed in fear. He knew our names.
Harry and I both eyed the man. I thought it looked like he was smiling, but I couldn't tell what was going on between his fur. I could be a grimace, for all I know.
"Las' time I saw you two, yeh was only little babies!" He exclaimed. "You two really resemble yer mom 'nd dad." He knew our parents. Maybe he was an old friend of theirs. I moved slightly away from Harrry, feeling a tad more comfortable, but didn't let go of his hand.
Uncle Vernon made a funny rasping noise.
"I demand that you leave at once, sir!" He said. "You are breaking and entering! In my world, that's illegal!" In my world...? What on earth does that mean?
"Ah, shut up, yeh great prune." I watched in awe as he reached over the back of the sofa, jerked the gun out of Uncle Vernon's hands, bent it into a knot as easily as if it had been made of rubber, and threw it into the corner of the room. One point to the giant man!
Uncle made another funny noise, like a mouse being trodden on.
"Anyway - Harry and Journey," said the giant, turning his back on the Dursleys, "a very happy birthday to yeh. Got summat fer yeh here - I mighta sat on it at one point, but it'll taste all right." I let out a quiet gasp. This man knew it was our birthday.
