Stark's POV-
A night went by, Pete and I fell asleep on the sofa, Steve went into his room and Bucky slept on the other couch.
I was awake, but I have insomnia, and plus it is eight in the morning. I looked down at Peter, his curls were covering his eyes and his breathing was heavy. He was lying on my shoulder and covered with a blanket. The only thing left to do was to wait until he woke up and see if he was feeling any better. I glanced down again and his arms caught my attention. Banner was right, the amount of pressure to create that type of mark would have to be immense. I didn't even want to think about it. I shivered at the thought of it. A door opened from down the hall, Bruce walked out.
"Tony. We need to talk." He said in a whisper. "The sample of Peter's blood: it showed signs of contamination, we were right. Loki did something to his healing process."
"What does that mean? Can you fix it?" I asked quietly.
"I don't know yet, but that's not the worst thing." Banner sighed. "There was also something else, some type of thing to mess with his mind."
"What? Like what? What would it do to him?" I asked rather loudly, I let my anger control me and forgot that they were asleep. Peter stirred but didn't awaken.
"I can't be sure exactly. But it's messing with his mental health. It's destroying certain genes in the right side of his brain. It's almost like a fear that's taking over him. A fear of being touched, a fear of being hurt again." He paced the room.
"That's insane. Is that even possible? How could he do that? What will you do?" I shook my head.
"I don't know. I need more time, don't tell Peter yet. Just wait until I know what to do." He shuffled on the spot.
"How long will it take?" I sighed.
"As long as it takes. You can't rush science Tony, you of all people, shou..." Peter sat up tiredly.
"Good morning kiddo. How was your sleep?" I smiled.
"Good." He yawned.
"Hello Peter. Feeling any better?" Bruce asked.
"Yes. I think I can go to school today." Peter looked at the ground. I gave Banner a look and he got the signal to leave.
"Okay. You know what I'm gonna say don't you?" I muttered. "You can't go to school today, or tomorrow, or next week. I'm sorry. I really am but I have to do this. Your arms, what would people say if they seen them?"
"I...they wouldn't..."
"And what if someone touches you by accident, what would happen? What if you have a panic attack and don't know what to do?" I asked.
"I...I don't... I don't know." He looked up at me, eyes filled with devastation.
"You need to get better. Or else you're only going to get worse." He snuggled into my chest and closed his eyes.
"I know this is so hard for you. I do. But you need to understand this, okay?" He nodded.
Ten minutes went by where he lay silently beside me, then Bucky woke up.
"Hey." He said tiredly.
"Hey. How are you?" I asked, staying completely still so that Peter would be comfortable.
"Fine. Is Peter okay?" He asked, sitting up on the sofa.
"I'm okay." Peter spoke up. He turned around to face him.
"Oh. Sorry. I though you were asleep." Bucky said quietly.
Peter stood up and grabbed his crutches, he limped out to the kitchen.
"Where are you going?" I stood up and followed him.
"To take my medicine." He said quietly.
"Look at you. Using your crutches and being good. What's this about?" I smiled happily.
"Nothing. I thought about what you said and you're right, the faster I get better the happier I'll be." He said, while pouring a glass of water. I took out the tablets from my inside pocket and put one into the cup.
"Thanks." Peter mumbled, he downed the drink and hopped back over. Natasha walked into the living room, right past us.
"Kid. Sit down." She sighed. Peter glanced at me before sitting down carefully.
"I'm not good at this type of stuff, but I'm sorry. And you know I love you. But I can't stand that you don't want to be near me anymore. And I know it's not your fault but we were so close. And even though..." Peter interrupted her by moving closer and hugging her.
"Love you Auntie Nat." Peter sighed happily.
"Lo...love you too." Nat hugged him back.
"So we're all good?" Peter asked, sitting up suddenly.
"Of course we are." Nat smiled. She looked down at Peter properly and her face dropped.
"What? Who did that? What happened to your arms?" She asked angrily. Peter shook his head.
"Does it hurt?" Peter nodded.
"Why didn't you tell me?" She touched his shoulder gently.
"I...I didn't want you to...to worry." He stuttered.
Natasha nodded sympathetically.
"When did it happen?" Peter took in a breath but I decided best to just stop him.
"Wait! Natasha. I think the questions should be saved for another day. And also, I'm sorry. For everything." I sighed.
"Me too." She stood up and walked out of the room, bumping into Banner on her way out.
"Tony! I need to tell you something." Banner rushed in and grabbed my arm.
"What's wrong?" I asked, feeling panic flow through me.
"I know what happened. And I know how to fix him." Banner gasped for air through his excitement.
"Is this about me?" Shit. I forgot Peter was even in the room.
"All I have to do is perfect the serum and he'll be fine again!" Bruce exclaimed.
"No way! No more nightmares or fear?" I asked.
"Guys?" Peter said quietly.
"No more. He'll be back to normal!" Bruce said quickly.
"Guys!" Peter yelled, tugging at my shoulder.
"Kid. Right. We have something to tell you, but it's fine, don't panic." I put my hands on his shoulders.
"Don't give me something to panic about." Peter looked down.
"So. Banner found out that Loki put something inside you to make your healing stop. But that's not all. He also put something in you to make you afraid, to make you scared of being touched and hurt. I'm sorry. But Banner can fix you. He can." Peter looked taken aback, he stared at me, shocked for a second, before looking up at Bruce.
"Can you really fix me?" Peter asked quietly.
Banner nodded.
"I told you, it's not your fault that you're afraid, it's not." I smiled at him.
"He's gonna fix me. I'm gonna be okay." Peter smiled back happily.
