Tony's POV-
"I just need time to fix the serum and we should be good for next week." Bruce smiled before looking down at his notepad. A sense of relief washed over me.
"Thank you so much." I put my arm around Peter. Banner nodded and walked out of the room. Steve and Bucky still sat on the sofa opposite us.
"Can I leave?" Peter spoke up.
"Wh...what?" Oh no. Oh no. He wants to leave me? How can I let him go after everything that's happened?
"Just out of the tower. For a bit. I'm tired of staying here for so long." Peter yawned, he barely looked scared.
"I...where to?" I stuttered.
"I don't know... like the cafe down the street or something." Peter stood up and grabbed his crutches.
"Wait! I can't... I can't let you I'm sorry." I sighed.
"Oh...okay. I just thought it would be nice for us to get some air." Peter sat back down sadly.
"Oh my god... thank god." I whispered under my breath. "Kid we can go. I thought you meant by yourself." I smiled.
"No! Of course not... no I could...never leave you... leave again." Peter stood up excitedly.
How does going to a small cafe sound so amazing? Wow. The kids completely changed how I look at things. An egotistical billionaire who adapts to become an appreciative dad. That would make a great movie.
"Well, lets go then. Put on a coat. It's cold out there." I walked over to the cupboard and grabbed his jacket, he took it from me and put it on. We walked out into the loud city, I was suddenly very conscious of my kid who was afraid of being touched. I held him close to me and crossed the road, trying to avoid the cameras other people had pointed at me. We rushed inside and sat down, Peter smiled at me.
"What?" I smiled back.
"Just feels good to be able to leave the Tower, feels like I've been there forever. Nice to get away." He mumbled.
"Yeah I know. Be ready to be in a lot of photographs kid." I winked at the crowds of people behind me and loud screams followed. I laughed quietly.
"That's okay." Peter grinned.
"Here. I'll get some coffee, do you want your usual?" I asked, pushing out my chair.
"Yes please." I nodded and walked up to the counter.
"A black coffee and a tea with milk and one sugar please." I smiled at the woman behind the register.
"Coming right up." She left. I turned back around to look at Peter. He was sitting there silently, looking at the pictures on the wall. I let out a breath and watched contently. It was true. There's a bond between a parent and a child that's just so unbreakable. Even when he's not doing anything I think he's the best person ever.
"That'll be six dollars." I spun around and paid the money before walking back over.
"Hey." I handed him his tea.
"Hi. Thank you." Peter smiled.
I returned the smile and sipped at my coffee.
"Why are all those people outside?" He asked, stirring his spoon in his drink.
"Because... when a famous person goes outside, they don't really get away from all the pictures. You get used to it though. Are you okay with that?"
"Yeah, that's fine, just different I guess." He sighed. "Do they know you're my dad?"
"No actually. Not yet. Not that I mean they have to know! I just mean that... that..." I spluttered, trying to find the words.
"You can tell them. I don't mind. I want people to know that I have a real parent now." I ruffled his hair and pulled him into a hug. The noises of cameras clicking increased.
Peter pulled away and drank the rest of his tea.
"I'm done. Do you wanna leave kiddo?" I stood up and grabbed his crutches.
"Sure. Thanks dad." Peter took them from me and hopped out of the door, being careful not to bump into any fans.
"Tony! Tony! Tony Stark! Answer questions! Who is the child! Why is he with you! Why is he on crutches?" The voices came from everywhere.
I glanced at Peter, he nodded at me.
"That's my adopted son. This is my son." I ran on, hand on Peter, ignoring the even louder screams from everyone. We ran into Stark Towers again and got into the elevator.
"That was... uh..." I started.
"Yeah it was... yeah." Peter sighed.
I chuckled quietly and put my arm over his shoulder.
"Everyone will know you now. But it means you need to be careful too, okay?" I asked. Peter nodded and the elevator doors opened.
"How was your trip dad?" Steve smirked.
"Great, Cap. How was your date with metal arm over there?" I smiled back evilly. Bucky flushed a deep red and looked away. Peter stifled a laugh and sat down on the sofa.
"What time is it?" He asked.
"It's almost seven. We should order something to eat, how does pizza sound?" I smiled.
"Good." He placed his crutches on the ground and threw his leg up onto a pillow.
"Shit! Medicine. Don't say that word, that was an accident." I grinned. I grabbed a glass and stuck two of his tablets into it before filling it with water. I walked over and lifted his injured leg up gently and sat it over my own legs. I handed him the glass and he drank it quickly.
A night went by that was as uneventful as it can be when you live with Avengers. Soon enough it became morning, Peter was lying down with his legs on top of me. Bucky and Steve fell asleep sitting beside each other on the other sofa after a few drinks and I finally had a good sleep. I sat up and grabbed my phone from my pocket, carefully as not to wake Peter.
"Tony Stark has a child?!" The newspaper headline, front page. I smiled down at it and read the article.
"Tony Stark, the billionaire also known as Ironman, has been said to have adopted a child. Who this child is, is still a mystery. The world wants to know why, to feed his ego? Or does he actually care for someone other than himself?"
Fuck off... by God, I love my kid so much and this is how they show it. I shook my head before realising that Peter was sitting up.
"I... Hey kid... you okay?"
"Yeah dad, why do you look so sad?" He asked, tipping his head to the side slightly.
"Just the papers kid, they think I only adopted you to feed my ego." I sighed.
"So what?"
"What?" I asked confusedly.
"Why does it matter? I know you love me, and I love you. It doesn't matter what they say." He smiled.
"This is why I love you." I pulled him into me.
