Yu Xianghua, birth name Hua Xianfeng is the daughter of a well-respected general named Yu Zhang and a noblewoman named Hua Ziyuan, whom many believed she had been related to the famous female heroine, Hua Mulan. Adept at wartime knowledge and skills, Xianghua grew to be very capable of holding her own in battle even after her father's death. Growing up with her mother, who was very well educated and was well known for her natural beauty and her violet hues shining just outside her brown eyes, a trait that her daughter, and later two granddaughters would inherit. A kind-hearted woman, she was well liked by the Emperor and was given a high rank despite her gender. Xianghua later would bear a unbreakable bond with her childhood friend Zhao Yun, who she later would marry and birth a daughter, Zhao Xinyu. Xianghua's immense beauty passed down from her mother did not go unnoticed in the Shu Kingdom as she was well known for her lovely singing and playing of the flute. As her marriage was falling apart, Xianghua began an illicit affair with Fa Zheng, who had already shown romantic interest in her when he had first set eyes on her, knowing that she wanted attention and physical companionship.
