Chapter 11: The First Time

Now here's the funny part.

I didn't wake up...

...In the car.

But rather, in the hospital laying down on one of those remote controlled beds drowned in white and light blue sheets. Ha. Cool. I reached for the remote but didn't quite get it...

Ow.

I felt a slight pinch in my hand as I tried to move it, causing me to look down at my hand. A small needle and tube was inserted on the top of my hand and taped down. So they aren't putting IV's in your arm anymore? Well ok.

"Lyla?" I heard a female voice say near the door. I turned, surprised to see my sister Lexi.

"Yeah what's up." She looked a little hectic.

"You just woke up after passing out for 12 hours and you're asking me what's up?" HOLY SHIT I WAS OUT FOR 12 HOURS?!

It all started coming back to me. The car ride, the smoothie, the bruises, the blood. But I don't remember passing out... I thought I took a nap?

I guess not lol.

"How do you pass out while asleep? Because I fell asleep willingly and apparently didn't wake up willingly. Like how the hell does that work?" I ask curiously.

"You were sleeping but you got knocked unconscious because of something that we don't know yet. It's like your body just shut down."

My joking manor diminished as I slowly realized everything. I've never fainted, had a nose bleed, or had an extreme amount of bruises show up randomly before. So why now? At first I didn't think much of these things but now it's starting to really get to me. Is this whole situation really that serious?

"Oh." I say and she looks back at me with a pained expression. I cringed at the sight.

"I should call a nurse in." She says and walks out of the room. I looked around the room to distract me from overthinking this situation. I soon came to the conclusion that this was just a basic hospital room. There was nothing really special about it except the fact that it was a shared room. There was only a curtain separating me and the other person. I stared at it for a while trying to guess what the other person was here for or even if there was another person in the room but a shadow moving on the other side soon confirmed that there was.

I watched as the shadow walked closer to the curtain and pulled it open exposing a skinny girl who looked around my age. She was an average height (probably somewhere around 5'6) and had gorgeous long brown hair. Her eyes were a light shade of brown that held little specks of detail in them that I couldn't quite see from the distance that separated us. There was one thing that really stuck out when I looked at her though and that was the tube that was placed under her nose which extended down to a tank of what I could only assume was filled with oxygen.

"Yay, you're up! Finally... I was beginning to think that I wouldn't get to meet you and I know everyone in this hospital. So as you can imagine, that wouldn't have been ideal." The girl exclaimed with a giant smile. Wow she seems a little bitchy.

I fake a giant smile back at her, "As much as I'd love to have a whole little tea party to celebrate this extravagant event, I think I'll have to pass. But thanks for the offer, stranger." I say and the smile drops from my face as I turn away from her and turn on my TV.

From the corner of my eye I see her face change as if she's confused and a little taken back by my sarcasm. She recovers though as she realizes something and her face contorts into a state of surprise.
