Chapter 9: Unexpected

So this past week had been a lot.

I convinced myself that I had some extravagant blood disease even though I still hadn't got that call yet, I thought about my conversation with Landon and realized it was probably a huge mistake, and I went to school everyday like my life was normal (which was pretty nice).

About the Landon thing... I really wished I didn't tell him about my condition. It just gives someone a completely different picture of a person when they know they're sick. And it also makes the person who is sick seem more vulnerable and then everyone is acting like you will break easily. But then again I keep thinking about how casual we were while talking. Not one time did we ever pity each other and that makes me think that he won't treat me different. Also I wouldn't treat him different so why would he do the opposite with me? Exactly, maybe he won't. I haven't seen him since our conversation though. I've been at school and haven't had any reason to be at the hospital.

School has been pretty hard since it was the last week before summer break started, therefore making it finals season. It's also been really hard to keep Landon's secret from El. She was always aware of everything so she knew when I was lying. Of course she wasn't asking me if I've seen Landon Cage recently but she had asked me if anything was new with my situation or the hospital and the first thing that comes into my mind is Landon. I haven't slipped up though and his secret is indeed still a secret.

I've seen Landon's best friends Ryder and Jake a couple of times in the halls and I can't even imagine how they feel. Their best friend disappeared without a trace and is now secretly settling into a hospital slowly getting ready for a surgery that could save his life.

Well anyways... Today's Saturday, the first day of summer and since I literally have nothing better to do, I decide that I want to go to the hospital and occupy some of Ally's time.

L- Hey Ally, what are your plans for today?

A- Wallowing in self pity

L- Sounds fun. Can I join?

A- Of course... no but actually I have no plans. Why? Whats up?

L- Just wanted to see if you can hangout today.

A- Well yeah I'm always up for that but don't you have better things to do? It's the first day of summer.

I roll my eyes. This girl does not understand that I really don't do much. Yeah, there were some parties today but did I get invited? No. Would I go to them if I did get invited? No.

L- You are a much better time occupier than parties and pools.

A- Aw ok I'm sold. Text me when you get here.

L- See you in 10.

I turn my phone off, grab my bag and keys then head outside to my car.

The drive there never took long since it was only a couple of miles away so soon I was standing right out side of Ally's door, texting her to come out of her room.

She opened the door but didn't look up from her phone until she ran into me.

"Ow what the fu- Lyla! That's mean."

I laugh as she looks down at her phone that's still open to my text messages and back at me.

"So cruel." She states and starts walking off.

"Where are you going?" I ask and I turn back to her as she walks down the Hallway.

"Well you're obviously not gonna be nice today so I'm going to go hang out with my cousin." My face forms into a questioning gaze.
