Chapter 33

The night was full of laughter and singing. Xander had come that night followed with Ms.Mctavish and all the other people from the sanctuary. Nadine greeted Xander with great enthusiasm and hugged him till it hurt. "it is good to see you Xander." Xander stepped back to take a breath and then said "and you as well. I see your plan worked after all Nadine."

"in a matter of speaking, yes. It isn't over yet. Not until this country has a proper leader."

"and Dustin is that leader, right?"

Nadine stepped back and let Dustin answer that question. Dustin hugged Xander gently and said "I am letting the people decide if I should be that title or not." Xander looked disappointed, but soon adjusted and said. "well I hope they choose correctly, or this could be another long journey." Ms.McTavish couldn't contain herself any more and jumped into the conversation without an announcement. "this is amazing, isn't it Xander? So many people celebrating, an singing. I love ti castle too, I'm sure it will look better in the morning. But oh golly! Nadine ya have to give me a tour."

Nadine started to laugh. "I will once I know where everything is." Ms.McTavish continued and took Nadine arm and dragged her away from the men. "Nadine I want to thank you for helping these people."

"Ms.McTavish you don't...."

"yes I do. Actually for me I saw yar bravery as an act for me." Nadine stood confused "what do you mean?"

"I have had a romantic fling with Mr. Stern. Thee cook at Xander's" Ms.McTavish whispered. Nadine smiled and embraced her. "good for you, I am happy for you."

"thank you." all of a sudden Mr.McTavish didn't have anything to say. The roses on her cheeks began to swell as she sees her new boyfriend came near to talk to some friends. Nadine went to go find Dustin in the midst of the crowd. When she reached him she asked calmly "what about the people in the Delburn dungeon? Has anyone told them of what happened?" Dustin smiled at her and took her arm to sweep her away. "Do you always try to help others before yourself."

"I am just curious."

"Well Ms. Curious. The dungeon is empty and the guards have a choice of what they want to do. Edger came to me this morning and asked to be forgiven for what he did. He was thinking of his family and didn't know what else to do. So I forgave him and he will be given a property without cost, just like many of the people will have. Once the new leader is appointed it might change, but I doubt it. My parents still don't see the truth and refuse to be apart of us,so I am leaving them in there quarters till the new leader figures out what they want. Now does that satisfy your curiosity?" Nadine blushed and nodded.

The party never stopped for some and others just went on with their lives. On the fourth day of the victory the castle was open to all who wanted to vote. The ballets were named and signed. Five candidates were on the ballet. Dustin was the first on the list, then there was a man by the name of Mushus, Ballim, and Fred. And the last was Allister, the leader of the sanctuary. The day never stopped as people came into the castle to vote for their next king. The candidates also had a chance to vote, with a discussion of themselves. Nadine and Henry stood by the voting room the whole day making sure everything worked out smoothly. Refreshments were held and people mingled with each other. Nadine and Henry were always stopped by someone to congratulate them and to thank them for what they have done.
