he clung onto the dark tattooed arms like a koala, while his head was buried deep into taehyung's neck. he didn't want to look around, too afraid he would see their faces again.
taehyung felt terrible for jungkook. he had been through so much at such a young age. an abusive mother, his sporadic mood swings, and now a night full of something unspeakable.
taehyung brought jungkook into pearl's cafe because he knew he would get service quickly, and also because he needed to work.
subin looked up and smiled at the two boys, loving that someone was wearing her precious jacket.
"taehyung, who is this?" she went away from the counter and approached the two boys. taehyung had set jungkook down at a booth and was now facing subin.
"a really good friend up mine, his name is jungkook," he tried to help subin figure out who he was talking about since he told stories about him to her. she gasped and nodded. "could i get a plate of eggs and sausages for him, i'll start working. make sure he stays upright." she nodded and went back to the kitchen while taehyung pulled on an apron.
"taeeee," jungkook whined as taehyung's warm body heat disappeared.
"tae has work, bunny. you can just stay there and relax, try and let your mind go at ease. draw on the table with some crayons if you need to." but jungkook just sat there and waited for this food to get there. he was hungry and craving something good to get the taste of alcohol out of his mouth.
taehyung began greeting all of the regular customers who said that they missed him yesterday. jungkook could see him grinning wide, his unique box smile appearing on his perfectly symmetrical face. he seemed comfortable in the cafe and jungkook began to feel warm and content being there as well.
the food came out on a charming blue and white decorated plate. jungkook smiled at how cute it looked. he wanted to draw it sometime. the smell radiating from the warm food made jungkook feel mushy inside. his mouth watered and he took a bite.
"subin, can jungkook also have banana milk? I'll pay for whatever he gets." subin nodded and told her assistant to pull some warm milk out that would hopefully calm jungkook's spinning insides.
"hi dongha!" taehyung yelled as his new friend walked through the doors. they pulled each other in for a hug and the said dongha sat down at a booth. jungkook ignored their nosiness and sipped his warm milk, extremely grateful for how caring and patient taehyung had been with him.
dongha was a smaller man. he was a few inches shorter than both taehyung and jungkook but had a somewhat wide build. he had large dark eyes that were thrilling to watch, and matching dark brown hair that shined in the lights. or maybe his hair was just greasy.
the chatter in the background was calmly for both boys who were in their own paradises at the moment. jungkook was finally able to breathe properly as the food brought him a new sense of energy. his body still ached, but he was too thrilled with seeing the pearl shop to let that bother him.
taehyung and dongha talked for a bit before taehyung got back to work. he talked with the other workers and smiled a lot. jungkook noticed many people complimented taehyung's tattoos, which they both felt a sense of pride from.
jungkook stared at the at the pastel yellow drink in front of him and admired its color. jungkook loved colors, but his favorite color was the color of rain. he loved that it was hard to put it into words. that someone would have to work hard to describe the color, and that he himself would half to work hard to make the color that seemed blue and seemed clear and shiny like a bubble at the same time.
his eggs were the same color as his drink and he put them next to each other and immediately wanted his notebook and coloring pencils. but he left them behind. he felt bad and pulled out his phone, texting namjoon he would come by and pick them up soon, even though he didn't know when he would actually go.
jungkook didn't eat the sausages, he never really liked them, but he finished all of his other food, including a small biscuit with almond on top. he loved those. he smiled contently and leaned bag, his eyes wandering up to take a peek at taehyung.
he had rolled up his sleeves and was working on carrying a tray of coffee. boiling hot coffee. jungkook became anxious that he might drop them, but he made it safely. it reminded jungkook how steady taehyung had to be with his hands in order to create the beautiful tattoo designs he did.
taehyung's forehead showed a bit, and sweat glistened on his brow. all jungkook could do was stare at his perfectness.
jungkook waited around for a while for taehyung to be done with work. he worked for a while. but jungkook figured that was reasonable due to how much money tae seemed to be earning. jungkook had some conversations with subin who seemed like such a caring and real person. she made jungkook feel comfortable and joked around with the color scheme he was possessing. flaming red hair, hot pink jacket and a midnight black sweatshirt underneath. jungkook was secretly glad she couldn't see the grey sweatpants he was seeing. and though all these things were pointed out, jungkook felt happy because she only complimented him.
eventually, when jungkook had finished his fourth banana milk taehyung finished his shift. it was dark outside, the sun had already set and jungkook sadly missed it.
taehyung grabbed jungkook's hand asking him about the day and if he enjoyed it as much as he had.
"tomorrow we'll focus more on you and my house. do you wanna help me paint, bunny?" taehyung asked, squeezing jungkook's hand. he nodded and they went home smiling at each other.
