it was the next day and jack was extremely bored. he had nothing to do and was lazily staring at the ceiling.

the first thought he had was to draw to zach. that's what he went with.

he got up from laying on his bed and grabbed a blue marker off of his nighttable.

he drew a blue heart in the middle of his palm and waited for zach's reply.

suddenly, a pink heart appeared right beside his. jack smiled and wrote down, "what're you doing?"

"talking to you." he wrote back, drawing another heart beside the 'you.'

jack's stomach flushed with butterflies as he wrote down, "do you want to meet up today?"

"yess! where?" zach wrote.

"my house?"

they exchanged numbers and addresses; it was a plan.

at 6 in the evening jack's doorbell was rung. jack's heart jumped out of his chest as his mother opened the door and waved hello to zach's mom.

"jack! your friend is here!" she yelled.

"coming!" jack sprinted down the stairs and walked behind his mother. zach smiled and waved to jack and jack did the same.

"well come in you two!" jack's mother exclaimed while waving zach and his mother inside.

"i actually have to run some errands, is it okay if i leave zach here with you two?" told zach's mom.

jack's mother nodded, "of course!"

"okay, see you soon zach." zach's mom waved at them, before leaving.

"are any of you guys hungry? i can order a pizza." jack's mother asked while leading zach inside their house.

jack nodded, "sure, we'll be in my room."

jack's mother glanced at jack's arm, before looking back at zach's. her eyes grew wide in excitement before nodding, "okay, you two have fun."

"we will." they told in unison while walking to jack's room.

"my room's quite messy, so brace for impact." jack told while opening his door and letting zach in.

zach loved the room instantly. from the blue walls to how it was dimly lit by candles, it was rather romantic.

it was dark outside, which was something zach loved. there were two blue candles on jack's desk and it looked beautiful.

"i love your room." zach told.

"thank you."

zach walked over and sat on jack's bed, "your room isn't dirty at all!"

jack scratched the back of his neck, "i guess."

the sound of rain on the roof of the house made jack notice it was raining. he hoped that it wouldn't evolve from rain to a storm like it had the other day.

"are you all right?" zach asked, his hand starting to shake without him noticing.

jack shook his head and walked to zach's side. zach instantly started feeling nervous as well, due to jack being scared.

as thunder was heard, jack instantly wrapped his arms around zach's waist.

zach absolutely loved the feeling of jack's arms around him.

zach snuggled into jack as well and whispered, "want to listen to some music?"

jack nodded. zach let go of jack, "where's your phone?"

"on my nightstand." jack told shakily. he closed his eyes tightly, wishing zach wasn't here to witness him in his lowest moment, but much thankful that he was too.

zach grabbed jack's phone and handed it to jack, "go to a playlist." zach told softly while rubbing jack's thigh.

jack blushed from that, as anyone would, and found his playlist. he pressed shuffle as the rain only increased.

jack laid down on his bed and tugged zach down with him. zach honestly had nothing wrong if their "hanging out" was them just cuddling each other.

zach laid straight up while jack hugged him on his side, his head under zach's. he listened to the music calmly and relaxed a ton.

they closed their eyes and just laid there, not speaking; for words weren't needed.

"thank you so much." jack whispered as the rain seemed to slow down.

zach smiled and rubbed jack's arm, "whatever you need, i'll be here to help."

"i love you." jack told while interlacing their hands. zach smiled massively, "i love you too."

all of a sudden, they felt their hands start to get the well-familiar tingle sensation, but this time it was much different.

they released their hands and both looked at their hand. on both of their ring fingers were a black outline of a heart.

they both looked at the heart in confusion, and then at each other.

"what does this mean?" jack asked curiously.

zach shrugged, "i don't know."

"my mom might." jack told.

"you told your mother about us?" zach asked, fear passing through his brown eyes.

"no, but she knows my soulmate is a boy."

zach mentally wiped sweat off of his forehead, but was still nervous. jack turned nervous too, "w- why? is there something wrong?"

"no, my parents are totally supportive, i just didn't know if yours were."

zach hugged jack tightly, and jack hugged back, "my mom is super amazing about it. she told me i'm going to be famous because i'm a boy, and you're a boy too."

"it is pretty rare."

jack looked at zach once again, "so, do you want to ask my mom?"

"that means you will have to tell her we're soulmates."

"okay."

zach smiled and nodded, "okay, we got this."

"hold on." jack got up from his bed and grabbed his markers. zach looked at him with a puzzled expression, "what?"

"just watch what i do."

they walked downstairs, hand in hand, to talk to jack's mom.

"mom?" jack called out.

his mom walked out of the kitchen and glanced at their hands and smiled, "yes?"

"look at this."

jack grabbed the marker and wrote across his arm, "we're soulmates!"

zach put his arms beside jack's and watched as the words popped up. it even made jack emotional, he'd never watched it happen before.

his mother smiled, "that's amazing. can i see your fingers?"

jack gave her a side-eye before nodding.

she saw the heart outline and gasped, "you have already said the 'i love you's'?"

so that's what it meant.

they both blushed and nodded, "you guys are so cute!" she told.

"mooom!" jack whined.

the doorbell chimed and she smiled, "that's the pizza."
